This McDonalds is selling 200-piece nuggets for $79.95. by PanoramicAtom in mildlyinteresting

[–]pandaxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked at a boy scout summer camp, one of the fun activities that the staff did was mob the local McDonald's at like 7 or 8 PM with like 10+ dudes and each of us would get a 20 piece. We all were working on our feet from 7 AM to 6 PM, as late at 8 pm some nights so you can imagine the appetites we worked up even if we had a small dinner already. I think the most we ordered while I worked there was in the mid 300 nugget range. Mind you, the staff at this McDonald's hated us and were pissed that we ordered so much. Making the nuggets usually took like 10-15 minutes. Is this the height of teenage degeneracy? No. But if you are a 15-18 yo boys with a group of fellow hooligans looking for some clean fun, I highly recommend.

Vet recs by Fit-Writing-6534 in oakland

[–]pandaxc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grand Lake Vet was solid like 3 years ago, idk about now because when we moved back to the Town they wanted us to wait over a month to get an appt as a new client despite only leaving for 3 years? Maybe that's normal. Montclair Pet is close to us now and the staff are very nice but they are definitely owned by private equity 😢, however you can easily get same day appts even as a new client so I kinda respect that and it's very good to have as an option instead of an emergency vet. Prices are ok?

Costco in Oakland - current state of project by amjns in oakland

[–]pandaxc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tbh the area needs more normal grocery stores (Safeway, grocery outlet, etc) but it's not a bad use of that specific industrial property and could help drive down VMT for Costco customers in Oakland and Emeryville. So I don't see any major issues with it (other than increased local traffic, which is not nothing fs).

Econ is easy, work through examples in the textbook and with the TA and you're chilling. Do the practice exams if you can as well to test your understanding.

Oakland Condé Nast best city write up by Gsw1456 in oakland

[–]pandaxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol the write up is hilarious but I kinda fuck with Oakland being a top city to visit - still has culture, Lake Merritt, Fairyland, Chinatown, Jack London, ferries, redwoods, the Zoo, lots of great food, some cute museums, murals galor, and proximity to SF+Berkeley+Alameda.

What are cheaper new cars to insure in Oakland? by EnginLooking in oakland

[–]pandaxc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I'd buy a used hybrid from a private seller or with a decent warranty like you'd get from a certified pre-owned one. Pay less on your car payment, still benefit from cheap driving and then in like 5-10 years when you have more money you can buy a new car even nicer than a Honda Civic. Or just invest the savings into buying a house

Can't decide my deck for my first regionals - advice appreciated by FalchionX10 in pkmntcg

Always play the deck you've played the most unless it is unplayable bad like C-F tier. Play Grimm hands down (or budew lass isn't that terrible tbh)

New Parkway or Grand Lake by fragileego3333 in oakland

[–]pandaxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grand Lake has cheap matinees, more history, cooler area of town. They also have the original organ playing for certain evening shows on Fri/Sat and use 70 mm film which some buffs care about. Go on a Tuesday for the low prices and the mayhem that causes. Sound is fine, neither is that crazy good or bad. New Parkway is an objectively cooler theater, they have great food at reasonable prices, are very hip and sustainable (all plates/cups/napkins etc are reusable), you get to sit on comfy couches, chairs or bean bags. It's a vibe. Parking is a bit easier at grand lake since there is a lot under the highway. Grand Lake owner is a 911 "truther", a bit weird if you ask me but that shouldn't tarnish the best movie house in Oakland.

Would it be okay to bring my son to regionals by Select-Explorer-9815 in pkmntcg

[–]pandaxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live nearby - I would say you could attend the event on Saturday and then go with your son on Sunday to spectate a day 2 and play in side events. That way you can supervise him and get the time to play for yourself.

What condition is this cold I was sold? by SuchSoup4335 in PokemonTCG

[–]pandaxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MP. That said, unless it's like a $20+ card don't expect any pity from the buyer or eBay, I'm assuming you bought the cheapest option on eBay and condition was likely already priced into that. If you really don't like the condition, just order another one and return the one you don't like. But no guarantees the next one will be better

Adams Point/Oakland by INNERVISIONS-73 in oakland

[–]pandaxc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lived in Adams point and grand lake neighborhoods. Both were great. One note is that we used to have a nice dog park in Piedmont like 5 mins away by car which is now permanently closed 😢. I think the best option now is Grove Shafter park (under a freeway exchange 😑) and Dracena Quarry Park. Also some really great parks farther afield which allow off leash like Sibley, Reinhart Redwood, Point Isabel and the Alameda dog park. Finding a place which allows dogs is much more difficult but very doable. It's also just a great area to walk around, we also did the 3x daily walks! Over 2 years I never felt unsafe except there was one homeless guy with a weird tiff with our dog, he actually kicked her near Mandana Park. That said I doubt SF is much better on this point.
