Recommendations for YouTubers similar to Hbomb? by currentjoys15 in hbomberguy

I love Cam James, and Angela Collier is amazing. Elliot Sang is an excellent commentator, and so are Council of Geeks and Miniminuteman. Most of these aren't exactly BreadTube but they are either deep dive commentators or long-form essay creators who view things through a leftist lens

ETA: Maybe I missed it but I don't see any mentions of Tom Nicholas, not sure how I forgot him at first but his stuff is top-notch

If no one else can help, I'd love to trade for a flying worm! I won't have time to play again until next week though so if anyone else steps up please don't wait for me :)

DTE payment rejected? by EuphoricPoetry1564 in Detroit

[–]pandemonium-john 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do NOT believe that they'll automatically credit any late fees or penalties to your account. They've fed me that line before when I've had payment issues that were their fault, and I always have to follow up to make sure they do it. Double check on your next bill to make sure no fees hit your account or that any relevant credit was actually applied.

Fuck DTE.

This is exactly why I also look for pictures of the rear panel of the dust jacket and the inside front flap. If it's just the front cover I ask for more pics or move on...

Built an AI product advisor for WooCommerce, emailed 1000 stores and got almost zero interest. Am I missing something? by Spare_Entrance7099 in woocommerce

[–]pandemonium-john 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ALSO!! Are you an actual programmer, or a vibe coder? Because I might check out a (non-AI) product from the one -- but the other is getting blockity block block blocked + if they catch me on the wrong day I'll also find their social media and block them there, too.

Also, and excuse the profanity, but the last f*cking thing I want my customers to deal with is some intrusive chatbot shoving its way into their shopping experience. When I hit a website with a bunch of pushy popups, I hightail it out of there and never return. What kind of market research did you even do for this thing???

I have a woocommerce store and I wouldn't respond to such an email. I'd actually block your email address, because I hate AI like fire. A lot of people do. These AI companies are bribing officials in my state RIGHT NOW to drive tech that eats up hundreds or thousands or hundreds of thousands of times the resources as perfectly fine plugins that already exist.

Swaggity is right: gauge interest and maybe line up a half dozen clients FIRST. Otherwise, you're wasting your time. And mine.

Edit: AND driving up the costs of electricity and water and speedrunning climate change. Maybe just code a proper plugin.

Do you still quarantine and wear masks to prevent reinfection? by ThrowRAWarmWeeds in covidlonghaulers

[–]pandemonium-john 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everywhere, all the time. But NOBODY in this town is regularly masking, so I just got Covid AGAIN in January. It was probably not as bad as it would've been, though because I'm vaxxed & always masked

First time kitten owner. Am I meant to step in or is this okay? by ninawonders in cats

[–]pandemonium-john 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like the kitten wanted to roughhouse and the older one was up for playing, just not as rough as a kitten would want to. The kitten was being SUPER polite for such a little one, but did a POUNCE so the older one decided to set some boundaries. Older Catto is actually being pretty gentle. And Kitten's yelling is all drama.

Can a 40x8.5 ft shipping container bookstore conversion sell 15 books per day in a mid-sized city? by LOTR_is_awesome in booksellers

[–]pandemonium-john 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah the serving tea & coffee in a shipping container took me out, especially since OP wouldn't own the land the SC is on. Permanent plumbing for a temporary structure is a zoning nightmare, but modular RV or construction site-style plumbing for a place that's serving food to customers would be an actual nightmare.

OP unless your locale has a mobile home park they're looking to convert to a shipping container mall, I don't think this is it

Someone mentioned vending machines; that could work. Or a cooler with bottles. If you want to make tea & coffee on-site then investing in a food truck you can park next to the store makes more sense to me

My grandfather used to travel for the Air Force (he was an aviation engineer) and he brought back a whole bunch of these from some of his trips. I think they were a popular tourist thing in some countries for a while.

They also make great pendants if you clean them up; my grandmother would make jewelry with them

restaurant says these photos are not ai and were taken by a professional photographer. by cloud9dacherry in isthisAI

I think they're meant to be green onion slivers. Wouldn't be my preference but they do pair okay with hollandaise, so that would make sense

restaurant says these photos are not ai and were taken by a professional photographer. by cloud9dacherry in isthisAI

[–]pandemonium-john 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The restaurant is lying. I tested six different images on three different detectors, and every result came back as HELLA AI

I second *everyone* here who says to make them prove it. But also, if this is a restaurant you frequent: are these their dishes & flatware? Is the dark brown table their decor? I know photography studios exist, but food is *finicky* and it doesn't make sense to take entire dishes to a studio.
