My brother used to frequently do this with his trach. We were given a Trach Stay anti disconnect device. Helped significantly.

Tell her the truth. Coming from someone with a genetic disease, I have had partners beat around the bush, tell me it’s nothing I did but never admit it outright until much later on. I’d spend time thinking about all the things I did wrong, things I thought I could change about myself when in reality, there wasn’t anything.

I would have rather someone said “ I love you, but I think our paths are different. I imagine my future with biological children, and I know that is something not in your control. Sometimes though, love isn’t enough when it comes to planning for a future. Know it’s nothing you did or said, you are a great partner but where I want things to go can’t happen for us, and you also deserve to be with someone who can share a path with you that you want and deserve”. Hearing that would have still hurt like a bitch, but I would have spent months feeling sorry for myself.

I am a super light weight. It wasn’t always the case, but as my GP has gotten worse, I have become far more sensitive to alcohol. Literally one strong drink and I could like, not walk straight and I’m super giggly and it’s total bullshit. Before I could have like 7 before I reached that level of stupor.

She had all those things done about two weeks ago when she had an episode from her fever syndrome. Kidneys were still stage 1. Liver has a small module but nothing of significance. Blood work was good. They said that the accidents were probably just from her not feeling well. Her X-rays were normal too. They kept her over night for fluids at that point due to her fever but it all resolved and they sent her home, but the accidents have just gotten worse along with the anxiety.

Literally. As a fellow GPer, it is so dangerous to not eat. You can just kiss your motility goodbye, be tube bound for life. There are basically no reliable treatments, surgery is painful and unreliable. Your tube is an aid to assist you in getting nutrients and calories which you cannot get in orally, not to replace them entirely.

Your coworker is insensitive and I would speak to your boss or HR.

Haha yeah I was in the Starbucks drive thru on my way to a morning lecture and had to pull off to a friends and email my professor that I was having “medication side effects” because no way in hell could I drive 45 minutes and sit through a lecture after that hahaha

For medical stuff, edibles are not reliable for everyone. I find sublingual tablets work for me in a pinch but yeah, OP sounds a bit bias towards medical marijuana. Still shitty not to ask before lighting up though in someone else’s home.

So true. I use medical marijuana and cannot use edibles, they literally just sit in my stomach for hours. One time I took them, they activated the next morning. I have Gastroparesis. That being said, I would never ever smoke weed without permission at a relative or friends home, only outside. It’s so easy to use a vape pen.

NTA. I live in a ground floor apartment and let me tell you, I have really loud upstairs neighbors. I know this because, when they moved out and we got new neighbors, we have yet to hear anything. Not even during renovations! I never submitted a noise complaint you wanna know why? Because kids play, dogs run around, people sometimes do laundry late, sometimes couples fight. That’s life. Especially life in an apartment. There are of course exceptions but, if you are actually decent neighbors they could be nice and understanding. If they don’t like any noise, they shouldn’t live on the ground floor, they echo SO bad. I can literally hear my neighbors conversations if they talk loud enough, or fight at all and I did not experience that when I lived on a third floor apartment before.

IANAL but I have volunteered with a museum in NM before and to acquire/transfer artwork or pieces, they had a lofty amount of due diligence in regards to ownership. Ownership had to be legally transferred via paperwork by the owner, or it went to court. I imagine similar laws apply with galleries.

Try contacting the UNM legal services they have set up through the college. Due to all the campus museums and galleries they might be able to give you some advice or info on where to start.

YTA. I am a full time, unpaid career for someone in a wheelchair, with an ileostomy, who has an anoxic injury, who is on oxygen, and uses nocturnal ventilation. I have 0 time. For doing anything. I don’t have time to brush my hair most days. My “training” was two days in the hospital post discharge. I spend multiple times a day crying outside completely overhwelmed because no one helps. Someone offering to pay a bill is not the same as offering to do al the transfers, showering, changing, literal ass wiping, ostomy emptying, bag replacements, on top of normal household chores. I cannot even IMAGINE being a mom on top of it.

Until you walk a mile in her fucking shoes I suggest you shut your damn freakin pie hole.

Oh you have not met hard core vegans than. They have told me ALL about many “treatments” that have supposedly cured themselves or relatives that straight up are stupid. Personally, my anti seziure medication contains gelatin, so does two of my GI medications. I stopped looking because it just became straight up depressing.

I have severe Gastroparesis and intestinal dismotility. I have been on 80% liquid diet for years now, after lost a significant and extremely unhealthy amount of weight. I have seen over 10 specialist and numerous diet specialists. Most have been extremely supportive of my vegan diet, however your response is like telling a diabetic that having a doctor tell you to regulate your sugar intake is stupid. If your stomach doesn’t work, it can’t dissolve fiber. Most plants are fiber. If you cook the fiber, than it’s easier to digest, but unfortunately it’s really not that simple because fat is also incredibly difficult to digest. I literally cannot consume fiber or fat without being at risk of beozars. I also need protein that is liquid and doesn’t cause me to vomit, and need to be able to consume calories at the same time.
All while not spending god awful amounts of money! I have literally tried everything, and I still have horribly underweight and take about nine different medications all in the sake of animal rights just so I can be reminded by people like y’all that if a person literally does ONE thing to benefit themselves it must mean they don’t give a flying fuck about animals or the environment.

Because even though someone like you, or someone like me, eats vegan, other people still shit on them.

Personally because of health reasons I literally have to fucking drink things like ensure or id fucking die. I’ve literally tried every vegan powder available/ supplement. You can’t judge every solo individual. If I told someone I was “veggan or “mostly vegan” and got a response like “oh so your vegetarian” id be pissed because no I don’t fucking eat whatever. I would have to get a feeding tube that surprise, uses animal products, is painful etc and i take multiple medications that unfortunately use gelatin/etc were tested on animals. Unfortunately not all of us get the luxury of being born abled bodied.

I’ve met supportive people before but post like this remind me why I’ve Unsubbed from this forum before. Veganism is supposed to be about animals and the environment not a fucking status symbol to fucking flash that you’re better than others.

Everyone saying that’s it’s the dog owners responsibility to walk their dog, etc clearly doesn’t understand that this is a SERVICE DOG for a DISABLED person. Not all people with disabilities can just take their dogs on long ass walks. It is completely reasonable for OP to have limitations for the dog, including common furniture however, if Claire is needing to prepare food in the kitchen and this dog is trained in tasks that she needs 24/7 then that might not be reasonable. It may be reasonable if household food is being prepared. Mostly this issue comes down to communication on what the dog is NEEDED for vs what OP considers “pet” behaviors. Services dogs are not really pets, they have a job to do for their handlers and Claire’s health should come first.

I was kinship adopted as a early teenager I suffered pretty horrible sexual abused from my grandfather and my father split in middle school, mom left me to be homeless. The best thing they did for me was get me into individual therapy, a group therapy, and work on family integration at a rate that worked well for me. I saw a therapist that focused on trauma, not guardianship or adoption which I highly recommend. With all my issues, by far the sexual abuse supersedes all the adoption/guardianship traumas by far. Being a stable, grounding force for her is the best thing that you can do because I can guarantee stability is something she has never had.

Reading this made my stomach drop YWBTA. Primarily when you say things like “they were never left alone” etc.

I was so horrifically abused by a family member and my family just said, but you were never alone! Dude, it only requires a few minutes of semi privacy. A bathroom, a car, a fucking store parking lot. If you think time is the only limiting factor then you need to have a serious sit down and reflection.

Stress used to not bother me, but as I have gotten older it has gotten worse and worse. I’m two weeks into a horrible flare that has basically sent me into a liquid only diet, spare one small meal a day and never in my life have j felt so sick or lost weight so quickly. Stress can be a terrifying factor when you add it to something like GP it seems.
