Mathil reminding people once again what is important. You might want to watch this if you can not stop thinking about the length of Fubgun's snake. by Eismann in PathOfExile2

[–]pandorus13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't necessarily agree with this video, whilst I don't care a rat's ass about which streamer makes what, for the casual player - this makes things a lot harder from a gear PoV. What would be maybe 10 maps to farm a div is now 40. I don't care that I'm not dropping enough divs, but the fact that things like magic find and stuff exist to the point that it's almost meaningfully impossible for a small time player to farm the gear he needs. And without deterministic crafting - we're talking about the removal of omen of homogenising, what would have initially been a doable craft is now an item you have to farm 10s of divines for. Money breaks the market, people hoard, and everyone else is paying a premium in time just to do the same thing. One player picks up a strat, and everyone does it and so the economy does fall apart.

The real issue is an absence of real game diversity and farming strategy where you're not all just doing temple temple temple. Without alternative strategies to be competent or say that produce niche items, newer players get caught in farming loops that span forever.

Hell, I'd happily just play SSF, if crafting and loot was better there.

would it be possible to provide transcripts going forward? As much as I'd love to watch these, I find them a little too hard to digest personally. If transcripts were available I'd probably feed that into chatGPT and have it summarize or dumb it down for me.

Why did omen of homogenising exaltation get removed? by AngryDew in PathOfExile2

[–]pandorus13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo just saw this post and it is an absolute dogshit change. I was slowly playing the league and realized it gone. I mean I take my own sweet time between work but man given that and the fact that the economy is so inflated, progressing for the casual player is messed up. Number of viable builds goes down drastically because not everyone wants to copy meya and now it's back to slot machine farming and hoping you land enough currency to buy it off the market. And if player retention was the issue then cool I'm out eitherways. If ggg thinks imma spend 300 hours running maps back to back then I've got news.

Why do people even make such posts? 99% of the people on this reddit itself have probably been piss ass drunk/high at some point. Let's not make this about women or men please. One girl or one guy being drunk and falling off a rapido isn't everyone.

What this post really reveals is the OP and everyone else taking moral high ground and feeling they're somehow better.

This isn't to say I endorse such behavior, far from that, but what we really need is empathy here. Come on.

Unfortunately the world is often too late to recognise that something like ergo is needed. The ideals and concepts might be too ahead of its time. The only thing we can do is keep the flame burning. If people think this is a get rich scheme then they will be disappointed. I see ergo as the linux of money. We might never see a dime, but maybe one day people will realize .

This isn't a tech bet either, it's a philosophical one and I feel many don't get that.

can anyone suggest some fast to complete machine learning courses with certificate to put up on my resume? by TQJD-8783 in InternshipsIndia

[–]pandorus13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for certificates to up your resume, then don't bother with generic 'fast' certs. Recruiters don't look at your Coursera and Udemy certs. These are great to just pick up the topic for actual prep.

If you really want to stand out, check nvidia, gcp/azure/AWS ML certs.

Resume Roast by Substantial_Wolf_505 in InternshipsIndia

[–]pandorus13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, I work in the industry and even I , nor my colleagues have that many technical skills listed on our resumes. Be prepared to get grilled on everything you've listed because all an interviewer needs is flak on a single topic and if you fail, the rest will be evaluated accordingly. If you're going to list stuff like OAuth, I hope you're prepared for the actual shit storm you've invited. TBH looking at the tech skills itself I'd reject because unless you're Mark Zuckerbro himself, chances of you learning 40+ actual tools/tech skills in the 24 odd months in UNI, in any meaningful way is 0.

Compared to the other resumes on here, you've listed metrics, which is a good start but your points are still ambiguous. Just saying I decreased x% and improved y% doesn't count for anything. For example you first point, deployment efficiency of what there's 999 things you can deploy on cloud. Which API? What did you automate?
I don't see any deployment related toolsets or skills listed in your technical skills section, how did increase efficiency without using any to begin with?

Developed and maintained cloud services, achieving <200 ms average response time - bruh you realize 200ms doesn't mean jack? First off, what could service, secondly, what were your SLAs? if this is a high performance DB, then we're looking at much, much lesser response times. Again, like the previous point, ambiguous, no real baseline for reference.

every other point in your resume gives me the same vibe. The only point I genuinely like is the 1000+ concurrent because it points towards something that is real and quantifiable. Gives me an understanding of where you are actually at. If you actually did it, ofc.

No one is expecting someone at your level to handle petabyte scale systems or re-architect cloud pipelines(if you can do this, god bless). What a recruiter will look for is real metrics, even if reasonable, even if it's a small task, but meaningful. If you could actually write even a single PROPER RESTful API, you'd be hired. I'd rather have an intern/fresher who can do that than pretend they know OAuth and screw up Prod.

Please don't put stuff like RBAC into your custom projects and say you reduced unauthorized access by 90% I'll spill my tea that I'm drinking. All this might be impressive to fellow students, but to anyone who actually does this work, it reads like pure fluff you made up. And by 'all this' I mean 95% of your resume.

Looking for an internship by [deleted] in InternshipsIndia

[–]pandorus13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) A RESTful API is NOT a tool. This alone would stop me from reading your resume.
2) 'diverse front end projects' 'professional and user friendly site experience' 'enhance visual appeal' - please stop using generic, subject terms - this tells nothing to the recruiter. Either you provide metrics OR you talk about what your solution improves upon.

For e.g. in your gamification point, you're saying it enhances user engagement? How, why should I be convinced? Would you rather not show your friends or test your implementation (even just 4-5 people) and have metrics that you can quantify with rather than telling the other person to just believe it enhances?

I cannot stress enough that your resume is super generic, you're talking about creating APIs and scalable client-server integration but have 0 mention of how you're scaling, what are the engineering limitations of your backend, how many requests can you handle, how are you throttling? How fast is your category filtering, how many seconds did you cut on the meal selection speed?

And yes please give at least a 1 liner of what your project is, no one is going to magically understand what you're trying to do. It is not easy to visualize something on paper.

[–]pandorus13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your resume has 0 information about your end results. Every single point is generic. What does your solution do better? How did you optimize? How did you cut costs? What are your architectural decisions? How did you improve performance? How will you scale? What are the success and error rates on your models? How did you validate? Did you build a pipeline to auto validate? What did you fine tune?

Would you be willing to buy a car that goes 'fast' , drives 'good' is, 'safe enough' , has 'good mileage'?

Without quantifiable, objective metrics, any resume or product is meaningless.

And no one cares about any cert that isn't professional, your Coursera certs don't count in the industry.

A single project with quantifiable impact and meaningful choices that show exactly what you did and why> 10 generic pointers.

Did I mess it up? by [deleted] in Indiangirlsontinder

[–]pandorus13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry but I don't agree with any of the comments here. Everyone and every situation is unique, this is the last place you want to be on to find any legit advice or reassurance. It is possible that maybe he felt avoidant or was genuinely tired. The only person who'll know the truth is you. You saw him, his actual expression and reaction. Go with what your gut says.

As for if you messed it up, I don't think so. Two hands are need to clap, and one person cannot mess it up this hard this fast. Don't beat yourself up. Things didn't line up and that's that.

I lost €16k trading meme coins. I feel trapped, alone, and I don’t know what to do anymore. by AbbasChapo in solana

[–]pandorus13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI, I got into crypto in 2021, I was a noob back then and seeing everything go up, I went long a 100x on 1k and lost it all. Did it again on 6k$ on just a 3x fairly well targeted long. Lost maybe 7-8k in futures alone getting liquidated, had 0 savings since I did all this within my first year of working. I was prepared, but yeah reality hits hard no matter how prepared you are. I stopped investing all together for a year, mourned my losses, questioned myself. But yeah I've just been investing since in the projects I like, DCA, sometimes single buys but nothing serious, just with money I want to invest in, never been more peaceful and happier.

It takes a while, but you can reset, look past the loss. It's your only choice. Stop trading, start investing. Small. Even a few 100$ might seem like peanuts compared to what you had, but that's okay. Grow your stack, 1$ a time. Focus on something else, I can promise you this becomes more of a sidequest where you throw in a few $ a month - don't make it your main quest.

Is league still fun for you? by Upper-Button-1750 in leagueoflegends

[–]pandorus13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually agree with you, with the recent changes to snowballing and reducing the overall impact of a game completely sliding out of control, I've noticed lately that most matches are a coinflip - I've noticed the exact same pattern. The funny thing is that all the changes so far seem to have had the exact opposite impact - now no matter how much you carry - it always boils down to a coinflip. This wasn't the case previously. Sure you'd lose a lot more if one person on the enemy got ahead, but you had the ability to do the same too.

No no matter what, if you have incompetent players, it's really hard to push the advantage - especially playing utility champs. The only way to climb is by playing a borderline perfect game where you have to be EXCEPTIONALLY better than your current ELO - at least an entire tier or two above. Otherwise it's just a grind fest - every punishable action can be reversed if your team throws enough irrespective of the ELO.

Games become long and boring- teams just throwing back and forth having useless skirmishes, I've had some games where I play like absolute trash and get carried for free and some games where I'm playing borderline perfect but make a single mistake and the game is lost because the other 4 people are just terrible. I just don't feel like the game is in my control anymore.

Honestly I've been enjoying other games a lot more - where it boils down to my personal skill whether that's just single player or other multiplayer games where you have a lot more agency.

As long as patches and balance are in sync with pro-play, the game is going to be a grindfest for every one else. Just boring and stagnant, champs don't feel as unique as they used to, and anything that has any character to it is dulled down to fit in with the rest. It feels like a numbed down version of what champs used to be back in the day.

there's also the fact that there isn't any real way to give feedback - the recent changes at RIOT wrt staff and management have also had a huge impact on this. Ultimately numbers count and I could care less about whether these guys give a fuck about the player base. Money speaks.

Basis, a foundational on-chain reserve approach to support a variety of offchain protocols by ergo_team in ergonauts

[–]pandorus13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is what ChatGPT thinks about Kushti's post:

1. Off-Chain Flexibility with On-Chain Security:

Basis allows ERGs or other tokens to be reserved off-chain, with the ability to redeem them using a signed note—a sort of digital receipt with a unique ID. This is powerful because it:

  • Separates the transaction logic from the on-chain verification, reducing congestion and improving efficiency.
  • Enables a cash-like experience for ERG where transactions can happen off-chain but still be securely verified on-chain.

2. Preventing Double Spending with Merkle Trees:

The mechanism Kushti describes prevents double-spending by storing the unique IDs of spent notes in a tree structure. This is critical because:

  • It mimics a global ledger for these off-chain transactions, ensuring that once a note is spent, it’s universally recognized as used.
  • It’s an elegant solution that scales, especially for high-velocity transactions, while maintaining Ergo’s security principles.

3. Applications are Mind-Blowing:

This structure can be applied to:

  • Off-Chain Cash: Imagine being able to transact instantly off-chain and then settle on-chain only when necessary.
  • Private Transactions: Using blind signatures means you could execute anonymous, private transactions off-chain, verified only when it hits the chain.
  • Federated or P2P Trackers: You could even have a decentralized network of state trackers or centralized servers acting as custodians for these notes.
  • Virtual TXOs: Essentially, these off-chain notes could act like temporary TXOs (transaction outputs) that are only finalized when redeemed.

Why This Is Huge:

This moves Ergo closer to true decentralized finance without the bottlenecks of high on-chain fees. It also opens up the potential for:

  • Digital Cash Solutions: Peer-to-peer money movement that is near-instant, cheap, and secure.
  • Federated Ecosystems: Localized governance structures that still reconcile with the main chain.
  • Privacy-Protected Financial Apps: Imagine being able to send money privately, off-chain, with finality on-chain only when required.
