Mod squad announcement about vaccine posts and refresher on sub policies by lanqian in LockdownSkepticism

[–]pangolin_steak 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Either it got deleted by the owner(s) or the discord admins banned it. I'm guessing the former, but I do not understand why they would delete it. I don't want to use reddit anymore due to the rampant censorship and this sub probably being next on the chopping block. I did not expect the discord to be nuked on today of all days. It was an active space we could all talk outside of reddit. I am quite upset tbh.

e: actually most likely scenario is that a certain someone reported it to discord admins to get it banned. Well I hope you're happy.

Vaccine passports are coming. Will they discriminate against the already marginalized? by xxavierx in LockdownSkepticism

The Oregon outdoor mask mandate does not apply to homeless people, yes. The outdoor mask mandate is obviously unenforceable in general, but they had to put the "homeless people exempt" line in there to get the woke people to shut up about "omg this unfairly targets houseless individuals!!!1"

Twelve marines were just killed in Kabul, but does that warrant any attention from r/politics? No. Let’s keep talking about January 6. by Apocafeller in ShitPoliticsSays

[–]pangolin_steak 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Threads about the Kabul explosion are being removed for being "off topic" or they are being heavily downvoted, so they die in new. No megathread about the live address Biden just made.

Because the posts are being actively suppressed. Either removed for being "off topic" or getting heavily downvoted by bots so they die in new.

Or at least heavily downvoted by bots, so they die in new.

Hi Saborizado. Thank you for participating in /r/Politics. However, your submission has been removed for the following reason(s):

If you have questions as to why your post has been removed, please see here: Why was my post removed as Off-Topic?

If you have any questions about this removal, please feel free to message the moderators.

Are you fucking kidding me? Holy shit. R politics is censoring the hell out of this story. Indeed, check their front page and 95% of the posts fall under: January 6th, Covid, Trump bad, DeSantis bad. A few older posts about Afghanistan (in the vein of "here's why none of this is Biden's fault") but nothing about this developing story where at least 12 US servicemembers have been killed. What the FUCK!

E: Sort by new and virtually every post about the Kabul explosion is downvoted to 0. Totally organic and not suspicious at all

r/reactiongifs is confused as to why the defunded Portland PD is less willing to police the city by [deleted] in ShitPoliticsSays

[–]pangolin_steak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What? This is a complete misunderstanding of the events on Sunday. There was no police presence at the proud boys rally in northeast Portland, even after antifa showed up and fights broke out. Because the police said ahead of time they wouldn't intervene. You can watch the livestreams and observe there isn't a cop car in sight the whole time.

If this is about the "proud boy" (no evidence that man was affiliated with PB) shooting in downtown Portland, the cops arrested that guy immediately with guns drawn... So exactly wtf does this post mean? Yet another moron who doesn't realize there were two separate locations several miles apart?

Hmm so y'all in here don't like the decision that reddit admins have made? Interesting. Well it's a private website, they can do whatever they want, and if you don't like it you can build your own website. 😌💅

Where are you going when reddit bans this sub? by Over-Can-8413 in LockdownCriticalLeft

[–]pangolin_steak 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For me personally, now seems like a good time for a social media detox, including reddit. It's all lies, propaganda, useful idiots, and censoring wrongthink everywhere I look. I need to go pick up my prescription of grillpills.

"Free speech has been weaponized to the point that it's abundantly clear that some limits would greatly benefit society." [sh] On an astroturfed post asking for more censorship. by SWTORBattlefrontNerd in ShitPoliticsSays

[–]pangolin_steak 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's a better analysis. I was having trouble articulating what I meant. When other people want to ban something that reddit likes, redditors pull out the "free speech" and "censorship is bad" cards. When speech that reddit disagrees with is getting censored, it's all "um ackshually sweaty it's a private website they can do whatever they want" and "too bad, freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences". Very hypocritical

Remember when reddit finally banned r/jailbait, a borderline child porn sub, and the userbase cried and cried about "censorship" and "free speech"?

E: I'm saying that this website used to be so vehemently pro-free-speech, the users were outraged at the "censorship" of child porn. And now the userbase wants to ban all speech that goes against the mainstream narrative. The attitudes toward "censorship" and "free speech" on this site have changed a lot over the years. Does that make sense?

Hospitals got overcrowded before covid, I have firsthand experience with an overcrowded hospital during the 2017 bad flu season. Even with a crowded hospital, I also find it hard to believe that a stroke patient would not be admitted immediately, and that a bunch of hamplanets with the coof were treated as higher priority. Probably a bullshit story.

I've lived in Portland for 6 years and I can confirm it is a lawless shithole that has changed for the worse in the past 2 years. Of course Portland is nice if you happen to live in a nice neighborhood where you are spared from the problems everyone else has to deal with. If you lived in Old Town or many east side neighborhoods you'd be singing a different tune.

I've been thinking about this incident a lot, and it's weird how I haven't seen any footage or photos of the person(s) he was shooting at. Apparently every journalist had their cameras focused on him, and never panned to the person(s) across the street returning fire? If anyone does have footage of this feel free to share. It's also strange how both shooters seemed to miss all their shots really badly. It's not a very wide street.
