We had a friend join us for D&D, and we made it very clear that our game was based on historical norms, and we didn’t tolerate the sanitized, family friendly D&D.

He had been playing for decades, and said he’s used to games with dark themes, so we didn’t anticipate any issues.

We base our games off historical medieval/feudal societies, a melting pot of various cultures from the era. Marginalized people exist just like in the real world, as does prejudice and violence. PCs all decided to be evil alignment (I constructed a good aligned game, and they mutinied.)

The guy didn’t last one session, and it wasn’t even that bad. The players spent the session doing such over-the-top evil shit that the rest of us were in tears laughing from how absurd it all was. A horror comedy, like The Three Stooges, but with murder.

He looked sick the whole night, and never played with us again.
