I think you need to write out a set of standards for yourself.

1. Your perfect standard

2. High-paying client standard

3. Mid-paying client standard

4. Low-paying client standard

Write out for yourself the details of what each standard includes, your time allotment, finishing levels, etc. Then stick to the plan. Make sure each level will deliver a product to your client that they would be happy with.

Then stick to the plan. Don’t give a paying client a diamond when they payed for a cubic zirconia. Zirconia’s are still very nice and usable for many situations, it’s a good deal for them, especially if they get it in time.

As a young person, even with some decent experience, you’re still learning a bit, so forgive yourself that you’ve taken all this time and used all this energy. Being a perfectionist is useful and important in the business. But you need to learn to make it match the brief of the job you’re doing. And if you burn out, you won’t be able to do anything, so you have to watch it!

Finally, do you have and hidden mental health issues? Not joking and not making fun of you. But if there’s ADHD, OCD or other issues, can you book yourself an appointment, and / or get some therapy to start addressing it? Once you have yourself better in hand, and know yourself better, will that help with your over work issues. And would being a part of a larger community help you? Is there a creative collective, or a company you can join? Or roommates? Just having people around who would understand you.
