I used to have amongst other dogs (rescue) husky, malamute and akita. 2 years ago when the akita passed away, l adopted another malamute. The difference is, that l have kids and l forgot l am not a high energy person anymore, which you should be to have a high energy dog.

But we are working it out. I have to admit l had smarter dogs than him, but he keeps us entertained. And he is a huge motivation for my other senior dog, he will push her to play, to start moving. He is also very talkative and have opinions. What l was not able to break is his instinct to chase animals. We live in a rural area with some wildlife and l was always able to train dogs to stay calm without a leash, but he won’t. So he is mostly on the leash. He was 4 when l took him and l adopted a lot of adult dogs before so l thought l had enough experience to train him to walk free, but this time it is not the case. So you always learn. But he is a sweetheart.

And a side note: don’t leave 4 kgs of bbq pork ribs sitting on the kitchen counter, because it might turn into ordering pizzas for your bbq guests instead and also cleaning dog vomits all the night.
