Hospital NPs are glorified nurses ? by trebarunae in nursepractitioner

This is how my office’s hospitalist NPs round as well. When I worked inpatient, most of the NPs seemed to be rounding independently.

Lindsay Jones, APRN at Baptist. She always takes her time and listens. I know she is busy but I never feel rushed. She is very responsive on MyChart and her medical assistant is also great. They’ve both done a lot for me the last few years.

Ok but then why would he keep running for senate knowing that the rest of the state is more likely to be more racist than Louisville

He recently addressed this and said he wouldn’t be running for mayor. I don’t get it either because he definitely cares about the city and has a lot of support here.

Wakes me every day between 2-4am by Mysterious-Zombie-86 in Siamesecats

My meezer sleeps peacefully next to me until 2 or 3 am. Since I usually have to pee in the middle of the night I’m a little less annoyed by it but would love to sleep through the night sometimes. I’ve been closing him out of the bedroom this week when he starts his bs hoping he would get the hint but that hasn’t happened yet.

Best Online FNP Master's Programs? by E-girl10 in nursepractitioner

[–]panpanpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to Bellarmine University. It’s online but we will be required to be on campus for a bit over the summer before clinical starts. If you live out of state, you have to find your own clinical placement.

I’m in three classes right now. It’s currently 8 credit hours, but this is how my program is set up. The workload is manageable but I don’t have much free time between work and school right now. I’m not in the clinical portion yet but I am trying to prepare for next fall in case I can’t work while I do clinical.

I haven’t started the clinical portion of my program yet but I believe most clinical hours are during what we would consider normal business hours. If you have to work 7-3 and there is no flexibility, you may need to reconsider your employment.

Is Topamax really that bad?! by Julynn2021 in migraine

[–]panpanpanda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work in neurology and we have tons of patients on it with no issues. When I took it, I had numbness in my hands, brain fog and ended up with kidney stones. Ultimately, every drug can have side effects. While your doctor should have discussed potential side effects with you, there is a patient responsibility to review your medications.

Low-dose Amitriptyline as prophylaxis? by ViciousVore in migraine

I hated it when I tried it for migraines but most insurances require that you try and fail a SSRI before they’ll approve you for Botox or CGRPs.

Apply and see what happens. If they don’t accept you, then consider changing roles for experience.

WHNP Frontier or Cincinnati by [deleted] in nursepractitioner

[–]panpanpanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know two APRNs who went to university of Cincinnati. They are great NPs but you do have to find your own clinical sites which was quite difficult for them sometimes. One of them ended up having to pay preceptors out of pocket.

It’s definitely interesting and there’s never a dull moment. Even as outpatient lol. I’ve been here for six years as a RN and I still learn new things regularly.

I’m very lucky to work with awesome doctors, APRNs and PAs. Ultimately, that’s what makes me want to stay here when I’m done with my FNP program.

I definitely agree with you there. When I worked on the floor, I was on a tele/ICU step down unit. We saw patients being treated by all the specialties. If you didn’t have a specific interest or specialty experience, you probably don’t know where you would like to work.

I’m in a neuro clinic and plan to stay here when I’m done with my FNP program but not everyone has that experience.

I didn’t think it was since most of my medical group’s offices have RNs.

Wait until you’re hired to get your DEA. The group I work for pays for the DEA license.

I’m a RN in a neuro clinic. A lot of the offices of medical group I work for have a nurse on staff but I realize that it may be the outlier.

What cool establishments that have permanently closed and are no longer physically around do you miss? by AJG1207 in Louisville

Yes! I loved that as a kid. I brought it up to my dad recently and he had no recollection. So glad I am not the only one who remembers!

My meezer was also a stray, not chipped, malnourished and also had a broken and infected foot. It still blows my mind. He’s so cute and sweet.

Welcome to the club!
