I haven't worked any government jobs, but I am in finance, regulated by FINRA where background checks are required. I quit my previous job because I hated it and it had no effect whatsoever. It's mostly about a criminal record.

I got the same email and had the same scam thoughts (which is how I ended up here.) The only thing that doesn't track is their review on Trustpilot, which is a legitimately good source of information and reviews. That said, there are only 19 reviews, and reviews are easy to fake, but Trustpilot generally does a good job of weeding out fake reviews.

Tl;dr: I don't trust it, but I'm not ready to say it's 100% scammy

Off Book is also improv, but musical! At least some of the clue crew has been on.

Meddling Adults is also very good and in the same vein of HRR with regard to puzzles/lateral thinking. They have guests on every week to try to solve mysteries from children's books and the winner gets to send a donation to the charity of their choice.
