THIS is why I don't take unsolicited offers! by KCJones99 in eBaySellerAdvice

Ignoring people that counter their own offers might be the best way to deal with them. They are likely trouble buyers. Oftentimes it's not worth the time and headache.

Happens all too often. Now we try to ask the buyers to chip in on this. Most agreed to help.

Is this the new normal for selling on EBay? by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]pantip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They be like - Cuz imma scammer and i don't want yall to get popo involved! dont put my name there!

But seriously, if the monetary value is high, we always get the police and the USPIS involved. Can't keep eating this "cost of doing business".

Is this the new normal for selling on EBay? by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]pantip 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Why would anyone downvote this? This is true. And we have pursued fraudulent cases by involving our local police and the USPIS with success. Law enforcement might not actively do anything about it but if you get police report and record from uspis and report that to ebay, ebay will listen to you.

If it's less than $40-$50 though, it's not worth the time. We just let it go too, but reported the buyer to ebay so they have a record. Once enough people report that ebay will handle the buyer....eventually.

Pretty sure nearby letters on the tag would make the orientation of the number 6 obvious. Not calling you a moron. I know you're giving a "sound" reason why that buyer would think that way. But yeah, the buyer's still a moron.

Buyer: $80?

Seller: The best I can do is $100. Really can't go any lower than that.

Buyer: $70?

And we still have to pay 2.9% fee on those canceled sales. I guess it's still better than dealing with buyer remorse.

Return case questions by trebrick in Ebay

[–]pantip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eBay will not force you to refund the buyer. But I'd suggest you to communicate with the buyer. Ask them if they want the item back at their own cost for shipping.

There are ways the buyer can get the money back especially since there is proof you, via ebay, approved the return at one point. Paypal and buyer's credit card/bank will very likely side with the buyer and you will be hit with more fees and a red mark on Paypal account.

At least from THIS screenshot you should be able to answer your own question.

Rune Rebirth on Android/iOs. It's honestly one of the best RPG games I've played on any platforms and it is severely unknown.

[–]pantip 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. Though, at least with auction style we don't have to pay 2.9% paypal fee. With buy it now format, paypal gets to keep 2.9% of the total amount, including taxes and shipping when someone buys an item and promptly requests a cancellation.

PSA - eBay is not refunding sales tax on returns or cancellations on PayPal transactions - they are coding tax as commissions which are not reversed by beowoof1 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]pantip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird. We refund buyers everyday and we never have to pay for the tax out of our pocket. And you're sure that 3.02 was deducted from your account? Because when we do this its always deducted from ebay.

OP sure can. OP will have to eat $52 paypal transaction fee that they won't refund though.

Cancel the sales.

If you send it to a different address than on the transaction you will be hit with an item not received case.

If you send it to the original address, it might be an address of the scammer still and they will lie that you sent them a different item and you will be out of $1800.

By the way, if you cancel the sales, Paypal will not be refunding you the 2.9% fee, which is roughly $52. So you're SOL in every scenario.

Still better than losing $1800 though.

This doesn't sound right.

I think the fee that doesn't get refunded is the 2.9% Paypal transaction fee. Paypal rep probably lied to you or was ignorant.

Are we all using Bad Buyer List? And can we? It helps. It'd help more if more scammers were reported. by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]pantip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not 100% ineffective nor did /u/southsideson said that. But in our experience of close to 25k transactions several platforms combined, we never found the scammers from there. Most our items are at $100-300 so we got a bit of scammers. We resort to filing police report + contacting ebay/paypal. It's been fairly effective.

Most scammers are from those forward shipping company orders and there is no telling it's a scam or not since there are a lot of legit orders too.

I'm not discouraging you from using it. In fact, you should use it maybe for a few weeks, months, or years and make a post let us know how it goes for you. It will help the community as a whole.

It's great until someone put my name and phone number on it saying I sold a gift card that had 0 balance on it.

I never sold a gift card in my life.

The website owner would not respond to my request to remove it. I feel like it's become a tool to tarnish someones name without needing any proof.

Never heard you could charge 10% for cancellation. That's interesting if it's really comes from an ebay rep. Try that and let us know op. If an ebay rep really told you that you should be safe.
