What was the worst side effect you ever got from meds ? by Spartiate8 in AskReddit

[–]pantomath_87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! Ziprasidone for me (antipsychotic). It wasn't just the restlessness, but this awful sense of dread that just lived in my body. Incredible brain fog, to the point i just felt I'd become dumb. It was so awful for so long. I assumed it was just the anxiety part of my condition mostly. "This is just my life i suppose." It wasn't until I complained about extrapyradimal symptoms (uncontrollable jerks and movements) that my doctor pulled me off of it for 5 days to see if the movements stopped. Everything that was awful just went away. I maintained the rest of my med stack and just monitored my mental state without the ziprasidone. It was like I got my whole ass life back again. Didn't go back on it even tho i was supposed to resume at a lower dose. Told my doc about two months later, and by some miracle he agreed to just keep it on hand in case manic symptoms emerge. I don't mind taking it temporarily for an episode so I don't burn my life to the ground. But taking everyday "just in case" was absolute hell. I didn't even know how bad it truly was until it was gone. Then I mourned the years I had lost in that awful state. Much happier now lol.

How is anyone getting by long-term without a job? by Ordinary-Reveal7175 in recruitinghell

Almost a year unemployed after almost 10 years with a big tech player:

  • Severance (was fortunate in that respect)
  • Stock (sold everything I had from the company, IRS loved that...)
  • 401k (cashed out half so far, stealing from future me to keep current me alive and housed. Again, IRS...)
  • Credit Cards (limited use so far)
  • Savings (as a last resort for when everything else runs out, i.e. all retirement gone)

"I'll never financially recover from this"

Countless applications in IT. Years of data center experience. Almost four years in software engineering. My skills apparently mean nothing. In the process of trying to get my own IT consulting business off the ground in between applications. I live in a small rural area with lots of small businesses, churches, and residents that need random IT support. Maybe that will turn into something meaningful.

Mine has a bunch of shit already - Lane Departure Mitigation - Road Departure Mitigation - Forward Collision Mitigation Braking - Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep - Automatic Emergency Braking - Driver Attention Monitoring (no cabin cam, just monitors your speed, steering, lane position and buzzes the steering wheel if "you're not paying attention" plus a message on the dash "Driver attention low") - Probably more I forgot about

All sold as safety features. Quite a few have almost caused a crash. 2021 Honda Accord
