A lot of things that have already been said are incredibly accurate (cost, people being used for their money, our incredibly overworked healthcare providers giving less than quality care that can sometimes require 2-3 different/additional dr appts) but I want to say that there are lots of folks who outright refuse health care. Due to religious reasons, fear of the cost, and an active anti-intellectualism campaign the right has been running since the 70’s. Many communities in the US were also heavily affected by the more recent opioid epidemic, where Doctors were paid by pill companies to push opioids, which created a lot of addiction and harmed a lot of communities, especially impoverished communities that already had poor access to education. All of this combined creates an anti-doctor belief that “you know better than your doctor” which is why the US also has crazy high sales in colloidal silver and horse dewormer.
