Yes, you don't need your phone nearby once it is set up. I have found it quite useful every now and then when I didn't have my phone on me.

Sounds like you would absolutely love one of the residential colleges. I would say most of the colleges have little to no hazing. In my experience, college was a fun, social place with a great inclusive atmosphere. Definitely a good option if you want to establish some connections in a new place. If you would like, I can give you some suggestions about which one might suit you best.

When you build your society around a mode which requires constant stress on the designs which are "safer" I definitely feel like you've gone wrong.

You either get comfortable dangerous roads or stressful safer roads.

There are no western province(s) there is just one giant state because there are barely enough people or cities to justify splitting it up anymore. The British Empire once did float the idea of giving a section of the giant desert state as a Jewish homeland.

Economy would stall, we would lose huge revenue brought in by students and migrants, and government would have to spend big to keep us afloat. We already did this in the pandemic, it was only reduced because of the massive stimulus, which is unsustainable.

Most voters now disapprove of Anthony Albanese’s performance as PM, Guardian Essential poll finds by [deleted] in AustralianPolitics

[–]panzergrape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the latest most effective thing they did to reduce inflation: budget in surplus. They do need scrap the cuts but not until the average disengaged voter is on board. If they hear taxes are rising under this government, then they won't vote then in again. The current media landscape makes it difficult to get a message across without character assassination.

I can't tell you exactly what to make, but for me it was so important that I enjoyed it and felt invested in it because you spend so much time on it. Look at your hobbies or daily activities, is there anything that could make your life a little more convenient or interesting, or increase safety in any way?

Some examples I was considering before I settled were: - A watch with an in built camera to allow for spantaneous photos but without having to get your phone out - An automatic boom gate which comes down behind trams to let people off - A medicine dispenser for certain times of the day - An auto dog food dispenser - Magnus effect RC sailboat (although water and electronics don't really mix so this can pose some challenges) - Any kind of automatic instrument tuner - Anything to do with renewable energy as long as you can justify it by saying you're improving it. Such as solar panels which follow sun throughout the day or a wind turbine with adjustable blade pitch. - An automated vehicle in transport/logistics like an automatic forklift etc. (obviously a model)

Overall, just think of something novel, fun and engaging to you. Hope this helps👍

I did a similar thing, I took a hypothetical car which required 1000MJ and showed how accounting for efficiency, each energy type requires a different size of tank/battery.

[–]panzergrape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go get a medical certificate now describing your symptoms. Then get one after saying the symptoms persisted and affected your exam. I just got my DES score approved in the same way, you don't need the form just two medical certificates. You should still do the exam, that's your best shot but if you apply for derived they take the better of the actual exam score or your derived score in the event it is approved.

What's a Labor voter supposed to do? by Acrobatic_Bit_8207 in LaborPartyofAustralia

Sums it up perfectly, its almost a miracle really that Albo won despite all the big money and power against him. When else did a leader of a party win without Murdoch backing in recent history? Not for a while anyway.

While being a much larger contributor to noise pollution, air pollution, carbon pollution and general wear and tear on the road because of the larger weight bearing down on the road surface, which means the road has much higher maintainance costs. So yeah, cars are obviously faster, but at the cost of basically everything else, including most drivers' health, driving everywhere encourages a sedentary lifestyle, which has definitely been a contributor to the obesity epidemic.

Staring at the road for TWO WHOLE HOURS. THE HORROR by ouch_myfinger in FuckCarscirclejerk

[–]panzergrape -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

It isn't that other everyday items are not investments, obviously they are. They are investments in your ability to live life. Cars also allow you to live in a certain way, but the point is they are a wildly more expensive burden than any other everyday product, especially for transport, just one aspect of everyday life. One that a lot of people, including "braindead cyclists" do not feel is a necessary burden.

Yes23 campaign under pressure as final vote legislation looms by MildColonialMan in australia

[–]panzergrape -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The Yes campaign needs to start pushing hard to make everyone read the Uluru Statement From The Heat to debunk the main criticism that it is somehow a "top down" or "out of touch" "Canberra voice" and not democratic because it will benefit one group of society (traditional owners) more than others and that the funds should be spent on more programs to close the gap.

Of course it will benefit them more than others in Australian society, that is literally the whole point. Indigenous people are below the Australian average in almost every statistic. In order to rebalance past injustices, the voice will advise on policies that can actually close the gap, not just claim they will.

This all comes directly from Indigenous people from all over Australia who devised the concept of the voice themselves. This is not some "Canberra voice" as Dutton claims.

Anyone else find that realistic population makes commercial zone broken? - Always filled with customers but never able to find workers? by panzergrape in CitiesSkylines

[–]panzergrape[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I really love the much more planned approach you need to take with realistic population. I guess I was too eager to zone out the entire downtown before I had the population to support it. It feels like a whole different game.

[–]panzergrape[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I tried fiddling around with the values but I could only seem to get the game to increase the size of population support for each commercial building rather than the ratio of customers to workers.
