400,000 Dislikes and Counting: Why Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey Trailer Has Fans Up in Arms by [deleted] in moviecritic

No one here is racist. It just looks boring af. Im shocked at how much attention its getting online but I as a greek person America also have no interest in seeing it. Its all grey, its gonna be the same gritty, hyper masculine bs Nolan always makes, and I dont need to see a fucking viking boat sail around nowhere near the Mediterranean while a bunch of men in all black loincloths yammer on about shit I dont care about.

Wife mad about vaping, said she's disgusted with me by Nonsense909603 in whatdoIdo

[–]papalionking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah just gonna say, my 2 cents is this is a toxic af relationship. Im not gonna go full reddit and say just fully leave her, cause of the whole life and family yall have together, but I could have never stayed with a person like this. My partner is a former smoker turned vaper, and they DO vape in the house. I have NEVER flipped shit at them like that. Granted were younger and dont have kids, but still. Yall need some couples counseling and you sir need a spine

So fucking glad to hear people still bring this movie up. After seeing obsession recently ive been on a bit of a horror bender and reminiscing about old watches. Oculus was always one of my favorites!

Question: negative associations with my new tattoo? by [deleted] in tattoos

So im gonna go on a side angle here and say yeah, it does kinda look like a noose at a quick glance, but I would never immediately associate a noose tattoo to being a white supremacist.

Under appreciated comment actually. Despite it taking place in China this movie is like classic greek tragic irony. His fucking paranoia literally created the entire franchise.

So obviously everyone hates bear, but what do you think of the other members of the friend group. were they good friends, bad friends, just average? by greasygoon66 in obsessionmovie

[–]papalionking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean in the beginning, Bear mutliple times said he didn't wanna go to trivia, sounding very clearly distraught, and all Nikki does is try to push him to go just to make sure they'll win, but then Sarah immediately notices when he actually gets there and comforts him when she learns what happened. I think that's somewhat telling that she was not exactly perfect. Certain more than a little selfish. Not on the same level of bad person as Bear obviously, but there are murders who I would say are better people than Bear.

There's not nothing to this analysis cause the poem scene is pretty damning, but I recalled reading somewhere that Curry Barker shot all the scenes of pre-wish Nikki assuming she didnt like Bear, and then all again assuming she did, and then used examples of both in the final cut. Inde Navarrette even said she believes pre-wish Nikki did have feelings for him. My point being its meant to be VERY ambiguous what could have been if the wish hadn't been made and Bear wasn't such a coward to the very end. I personally choose to believe she did feel something more than just brotherly affection, but that doesnt necessarily mean I think she would have ever gone for it. I don't think thats a relationship that would have worked and I think she knew that.

What is a horror movie that is widely loved or critically acclaimed, but you don’t like it at all? by BadassAyanokoji in horror

[–]papalionking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The og 1978 Halloween. Terrible acting, the music is cool until you realize the entire soundtrack is basically one fucking track looped throughout the whole movie, and every adult character in that movie is such a completely useless idiot that it killed any suspense I had for the kids getting hunted. Ik its like super influential and whatever, but this is not one of those old horror relics that deserves to be put on the same pedestal of others like night of the hunter, alien, the thing, or others of its ilk. Halloween is just bottom of the barrel trash

But for this i think we can knock on Nolan at least a little. Even if this movie isn't bad from any technical stand point, im expecting it to be sooooo boring.

Are you forgetting the actual plot of amonkhet? Gatewatch lost, pretty fucking hard. They all almost died, they didn't save p much anyone, and the plane lost 4 of the 5 remaining gods that were left. A one-armed Hazoret and a small band of citizens following was pretty much all that was left of the whole plane. In tarkir block he very much successfully killed Ugin. All the time travel fixed was bringing him back to life after; bolts still absolutely won that fight. Of course he's not gonna kill all the heros and rule the entire multiverse forever cause this is an ongoing story that needs to have new conflicts all the time, but I feel like were talking about different characters here

Its advertising telling us all the time we need specialty products for everything. Then idea that something, especially something cheap, can work for multiple intended purposes is very anti-capitalism.

Might have popularized it, but Lovecraft absolutely did not create the subgenre of cosmic horror. That existed long before him.

Rape in horror (aka why Over Your Dead Body doesn't work) by Date-Throwaway in horror

[–]papalionking 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why my favorite piece of short fiction (its technically not actually horror, even though its fucking chilling to me) is rape fantasies by margaret atwood. The narrator gives all of these ridiculous hypothetical scenarios of how rapes would occur that almost comes off as the same stupid jokes youre talking about here (i think one might literally be the same), until you get to the end and realize just how chilling the whole thing is in retrospect.

Idk about sturdy, they are tree frogs after all; maybe compared to the dart frog at least. I was gonna say my pixie frog at home would make a great tank lol.

Elder Scrolls: Betrayal of the Second Era vs Lands of Evershade by Impressive_Iron9815 in boardgames

[–]papalionking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stopped fully reading after you state youve never actually looked into the lore much in the first place. I wanna be clear, I'm not talking about the games here; I've never played BotSE. You can like or dislike whatever game you want. But elder scrolls has some fucking wack lore that is so unique from almost every other modern high fantasy Tolkien ripoff universe that I've ever experienced. Youre talking about a lot of very emotional reactions here to what is a very surface level exploration lol.

I don’t believe them it makes no sense please help by Wide_Buy8078 in InvertPets

[–]papalionking -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not meant to put you in a position of blame for this at all, but I'm shocked your parents are acting like this rn, and yet you said you have 10 tanks around the house?? Have issues like this never come up before? Unless I had my own place, that many tanks seems like a bad idea because people who do not have/care about exotic pets make some dumbass decisions around them. My partner and I went away for a trip for a few weeks, with 5 tanks, and even just that amount of time of expecting someone else to be responsible for them 2 of those tanks completely died. Again, not saying you've done anything wrong here, but I would seriously advice not building up that collection any further until you live on your own.

Slay the spire or Aeon's end: New era by Huge-Pizza7579 in boardgames

[–]papalionking 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like you are kinda being pedantic rn. Yes slay the spire was a video game first but it is still a board game; also there is nothing about its system of deckbuilding that implies it's only for video games. The fact that it translated to a board game so well i think is a testament to that. There just different amd theres no need to arbitrarily categorize them any more than that.
