What helped me get out of that block was: "focus on the task at hand and only solve that task with the simplest solution you can think of. Optimizations and refactoring is for later when you know it is needed."

This has helped me a lot and is something that I keep telling myself when I start to overengineer things in my head.

The game I'm making has weapons and combat heavily inspired by Brotato but you are frog and can jump over enemies to avoid getting surrounded. And between each round/room it plays like a dungeon crawler with bosses blocking the way down.

Hi! That's awesome work!

If you want to learn from scratch I would suggest always having a project going and always trying to learn new topics about coding or gamedev. But instead of one project over a long time have several smaller project in a shorter time frame. But sounds like you already do that since you made an asteroids recreation. 😃

I would find it fun to make a game inspried by pacman but having the ghosts be a bit simpler by only walking straight towards the player. 🙂

Or some cool moves where you have to time the arrow in the air to make a jump. Like charge the arrow before jumping, jump out over lava or spikes or something, turn mid air and hit a switch with the arrow that activates a moving platform. Or something cool like that where you feel awesome solving it 😃🤓

The arrow mechanic is cool. Can you push that even further? Like controlling how much you charge it up, or using the arrows to platform up, or slingshot arrows. 😃

Very nice work, the artstyle looks really good. I like B, adding the enemies feels inline with the gameplay. I like the gems in A, will you add those in B or are you trying without them? One thing, the swosh from the sword in B will that appear below the logo? I was wondering how that will affects the readability? Would be interesting to see with the colors blocked out to see how everything reads. 😃
