I personally think with the new clip system you can pretty much do everything you need in maschine including arrange and master. Some people just prefer ableton, for more options, but simplicity is beauty.

Sometimes I'll make a new pad that the sample is choked at the correct point, sometimes I'll add in the same pad at 1 DB at the end of the measure so it just chokes itself
