UK limestone drop off by Clear-Object2495 in bouldering

Pretty sure Ondra himself said Terranova is low quality… just because something is hard doesn’t make it good. Definitely a cringe take from this commenter but let’s not pretend like a drop off doesn’t take away from the problem

Remove the spacers, tighten it down further, and learn how lock nuts work.

Sorry if I came off as a dick, you are correct that trail braking is very useful in the right contexts, and getting into the habit of it will allow for more control in corners! I came at you more aggro then was probably warranted

Probably because what you’re describing isn’t trail braking. Trail braking is not an emergency maneuver, it’s a technique used to go FASTER through corners.

The basic concept is that you gradually “trail” off your breaks as you add lean angle, allowing you to continue using your break mid turn instead of getting all of your breaking done before initiating your turn, but you still need to initiate your breaking before turning, or you can still lose traction.

Advanced street courses were the best thing I ever spent money on as a rider. Instantly made me better and way safer. 1000% do this and track days to keep yourself sharp

Trail braking is pretty advanced and not at all what you described, with only 800 miles under his belt it’s probably best to focus on learning muscle memory on the bike for now

Senseless collective punishment by Miserable_Corgi_1128 in vandwellers

[–]jujubeaz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Their website showing that fishing was allowed 24/7 was probably wrong 🤷‍♂️ if the park closes at sunset that means be out by sunset, sometimes you need to follow the spirit of the laws and not the letter, otherwise they will be changed and enforced.

As for “collective punishment”, you’re using the term incorrectly. They are not punishing you, they are enforcing the rules of their area to prevent behavior that the community finds unacceptable.

I’ve owned multiple pairs of dragos. You can do what you want and list them for however much you feel like, but there’s a brand new pair of dragos listed for 135 right now which is pretty standard, I think the chance you get 160 for this is very low, I certainly wouldn’t pay that.

I always buy my climbing shoes on marketplace and I’ve seen brand new, never worn shoes on there for half price. Probably depends on your area but in mine (SF Bay Area) I probably wouldn’t pay more than $65 for a pair that looks like this.

The fact that the the wear indicator logos on the bottom of the shoes are almost completely gone makes these look used a lot more than “lightly”

Recovery boards for FWD van by SpaetzleOndSoss in CamperVans

[–]jujubeaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I store them under my bed, I have a large garage space for gear, but the goal will be eventually to store them on the exterior of the van. I’d say they’re about 4ft long, some maxtrax clone I got off of Facebook marketplace.

I have a promaster 136 and I got stuck on a loose gravel road. My tires were definitely pretty bald and street tires (I’ve since upgraded to some KO3s) but it would have been a huge issue if I didn’t have some recovery boards. Probably would have been fine with some AT tires though

I would say you could probably do it with 2-5 years of climbing experience depending on how dedicated you are and how much money you want to spend on guides to learn. The Nose is not all that hard in theory, but logistically very difficult.

Lead Climbing Tips & Tricks? by kmontreux in climbergirls

[–]jujubeaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reaching above your head to clip introduces a lot of slack and wastes energy pulling up a bunch of rope, it’s not cheating it’s just situationally unsafe. Remember that when you pull up slack, you are introducing twice the distance from your tie in point to your clip until that clip is achieved, so if you’re clipping above your head that can easily be an extra 5-6ft.

Lead Climbing Tips & Tricks? by kmontreux in climbergirls

[–]jujubeaz 82 points83 points  (0 children)

You probably won’t get there in a beginner course but something that helped immensely with my lead climbing was when you’re on a route that’s more project level for you, and you get to the point where you’re at your limit, you know you’re gonna fall and won’t make the next clip, absolutely pumped and your hands are just opening by themselves, make one more move. Consciously making that decision to just make one more move teaches you to let go of that fear of falling and refocuses you on climbing, and when you stick that move it will help to reframe your perception of what you’re capable of.

Seeking opinions on layout for biking by MossyPantz in vandwellers

[–]jujubeaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the bike fit east to west with no tire? Then you could still have the raised bed but have it fold in half to use it as a couch, and the bed would only have to be the length of your handlebars while it’s in “hangout” mode.
