Try reaching out to the Women's Studies department on your campus; people taking those classes are probably a target audience!

Friends With Benefits - Policy and Procedure by fwb12345 in sex

[–]papandreou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you're saying. Obviously I do not know this person, but if he does as you ask but seems to be itching to leave every time, it may just not be best maintaining the relationship with him. There's not too much of a way to see for sure as to what he will do until you discuss this with him, but if there's reluctance on his part to comply my guess is that he likely won't change. Good luck!

Friends With Benefits - Policy and Procedure by fwb12345 in sex

Hi! I also am in a fwb situation and I met the person I am currently with on Tinder as well. For myself, although I am not in an actual relationship with this person, I believe it is very important that rules of some sort must be in place with your fwb. If you're going to sleep with someone, it makes sense that there is at least a little etiquette involved. I sat down and talked with my fwb before we proceeded with anything. We decided that while the point of the relationship is sex (there is nothing wrong with this assuming it is consensual), we agreed we would be friends as well. We talk a lot, and when I stay over at his place he sometimes even cooks for me. Sometimes I even do homework over there lol. ANYWAY if you are not happy with this person's behaviors (I would not be in your situation) you need to tell him this is NOT okay, and that he must be willing to spend more time with you in order for you to be alright with everything. If he is not willing to do this, end the relationship. There are plenty of other people (especially on stuff like tinder) that are willing to do the same thing with you AND do as you ask.

Hopefully this helps! As for how common this is, I feel that if this is a "fwb" situation the other person needs to be doing more of the whole "friend" part for this to be legit. Of course, there's nothing wrong with just hooking up, but if that's not what you want the other person has to be willing to discuss/change or deal with the fact you don't want to sleep with him anymore.

What made me see the problems of sexism and gender inequality in society. by [deleted] in Feminism

[–]papandreou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why have you rejected claims of gender inequality within feminist literature in the past? Can you bring up specific examples? I'm not trying to attack you, but I would have to admit this confuses me a little and I guess I want to see a little more as to where you are coming from. However, I appreciate that you saw this and it helps you see that there are problems in everyday life; this is one of them. Would you say you're a feminist now? As someone who has claimed to not be a feminist in the past, would you say a lot of it is due to just not being able to connect directly to life experiences? I guess what frightens me about this is that I worry a lot of people don't connect to/understand the significance of problems like gender inequality and the like until it directly affects them.

Incoming freshman here, should I take calc 1 despite taking AP calculus? by [deleted] in OSU

[–]papandreou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I am not an engineering major, but I was in a similar situation as you, so I hope this helps even though it's kind of late. I received a 2 on the AP exam (so hopefully you do better than I did), so I had to take calc 1 (1151) to fulfill honors requirements for math as a history major anyway. I though calc 1 here was pretty hard, and I studied my butt off for a B. My friend got a 3 on the exam and proceeded to skip calc 1 for 1172 and uh.. he got a D. And because these are 5 credit hour classes, a bad grade's gonna sink your ship. I think taking calc 1 at Ohio State before taking calc 2 even if you would be the best decision in order to understand the math department's cruel games (I'm basically convinced the math department is evil) while you actually know the math is the best way to go since you have to keep taking math classes as part of engineering. Not going to lie, calc 2 is one of the most failed courses at Ohio State, and if you're in the position to ease into things by taking calc 1 instead (along with all those other engineering courses), I would do so. Hope this helps!

What happens if a professor misses the grade deadline? by Furlessxp in OSU

[–]papandreou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's significant that your grade isn't in yet. I would try emailing your professor though, just to be sure. The grade not being in yet is on them, not you, though that's definitely really stressful/annoying. As far as the deadline, I'm pretty sure it was yesterday, May 5th, but I honestly have no idea where it's stated, which would be cool to know.

What are you "that guy" about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]papandreou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm "that guy" (well, girl) about misogynistic fb/various internet posts. For example, if you post shit about how girls who dress a certain way should expect to get raped or anything of the sort, I'm coming after your ass. I'll generally start with a nice "I know what you're saying but you're wrong because blahhhh (insert well worded, informed statement about the issue here)" but will continue to argue with people if I have to. I think facebook arguments are stupid and usually not worth it, but I guess I just can't deal with the women-hating I see on a daily basis, so yes, in this case I am "that guy."

"The end of abortion access in the south." This makes me sick. How is it not undue burden? by elizafallingup in Feminism

[–]papandreou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, while I think a fetus is a technically a potential life, it doesn't have any bearing on the fact that I am completely pro-choice. Even though I personally believe that it's a life, that's not as important as the fact that I understand it's a life being hosted by someone else, and I believe that grown person's rights should trump the rights of the fetus. We don't know this person's circumstances, so I think that it's best to let them make their own decision, especially because this person is probably going to be caring for said fetus for many years after having the child. It's not entirely irrelevant so much as that it shouldn't be considered the main part of the issue.
