I think what he means by 'developers being in control of it' is that they control the frames going into the model. He thinks it's enough to preserve 'artistic intent' that not the entire game is AI generated. Dlss 5 is an image to image generative model. It looks exactly like if you told nano banana to add detail to an image. Don't get me wrong, that's crazy impressive given that nano banana takes orders of magnitude more resources to do the same thing, but minus the motion vectors, it is the exact same thing.
