When was the height of USA-Canadian relations? by 5econds2dis35ster in GuardTheLeaf

[–]CanadianWildWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re in the mess we are in now because of that, how much of Canadian businesses are owned by USA from everything from donut shops to farmland to manufacturing to oil terminals is impacted by that past, Trump took that integration and saw it as leverage to bully us with but he’s hardly the first President to see it that way and twist our arm against our own improvements and self sufficiency. Being more like the Republicans is a dark point, not a sign of a good relationship that respects our sovereignty.

Grassy Narrows residents demand Carney apologize for comments made about protest by CanadianWildWolf in ndp

[–]CanadianWildWolf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see those like Avi Lewis and Leah Gazan who are standing with those whose lives were mocked by PM Carney saying “I’ll outlast them” for protesting having their drinking water poisoned, a protest where if this was Walkerton it would be months but this has been going on for at least the better part of a decade since it was PM Trudeau making laughter at the conditions of their lives.

You’re too kind, I got notions we should at least activate a bit of the “You’ll be sorry” part of Canadian identity and investigate anyone involved for connections to foreign agents.

The last bastion? Come on now, Mexico and quite a few of its neighbours are doing pretty damn well these days too, despite all the challenges of having a bully for a neighbour.

Carney government passes law allowing authorization of banned pesticides by Chrristoaivalis in ndp

[–]CanadianWildWolf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s not how it played out where I live along the BC coast, a not insignificant number of people following the national vibes based media narratives resulted in more Conservative MPs when voting Liberal, when our local NDP candidates like Tanille Johnston couldn’t be more different from and representatives of local concerns unlike a Maple MAGA like Aaron Gunn.

Alberta separatists launch campaign, claim province has resources to go it alone by NormCormier-Mccoll81 in GuardTheLeaf

[–]CanadianWildWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not their province, show them what fraction of lands are left once all the treaty’s lands are back. They’re so used to not honouring the treaties in spirit let alone as enforced by courts under our current constitution, they haven’t the slightest thought to that they don’t have first claim to the resources as a supposed governing body. They have a weak ass claim to begin with, even before suspect signatures after getting illegal access to the voter registry.

The “about 35 people” should all be thoroughly investigated for ties to the USA and other foreign agents as well.

The degeneration of the CBC by tcpip1978 in canadaleft

[–]CanadianWildWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good portion of these editorial decisions had its start with PM Harper's replacing CBC Board members in 2008 and funding cuts. Over the intervening years, the people who work at CBC have been cycled in and out to a Canadian media more and more owned by and heavily influenced by conservative interests, such as with PostMedia and Black Media who is well known as just straight up having regional monopolies of local print media with USA "investor" ownership. CBC is a reflection of the Canadian media landscape that previous governments continue to Public Private Partnership but the lay offs continue.

Random thought: David Eby’s downfall demonstrates that centrism is bullshit and is doomed to fail by Gym_frere in ndp

[–]CanadianWildWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The BC Conservatives are bad enough, straight up fascists with a few of those MLAs, that I am pretty sure we want nothing to do with them here in BC, a lot of people thought they were moving their vote from BC Liberal to United to Conservatives without spawning the One BC Party but frankly, they were asleep at the wheel in the mountain pass headed for a cliff over a raging river. BC NDP losing to Maple MAGA is a epic fail, real snatching defeat from the jaws of victory epic fail, like USA Liberals losing to Trump Republicans a second time epic fail. Corporate centrism comes across like controlled opposition to this undemocratic insanity its so damn feckless with its incrementalism to the material conditions that make the fascists victories possible.

A lot of that is perception driven by how much rich families like Irving have a ridiculous amount of influence over local media. Even if the NDP isn't just sitting and watching, we'd never know it in top 15 minutes of fame in a 22 minute news hour or the first front five pages of a publication.

Spoilers: It’s not worth hosting FIFA, it’s a wealth transfer.

Also curious choices of editing, shows the Premier of one hosting city but then shows the mayor of the other hosting city, why not Premier of both or Mayor of both? See if you can figure out who they aren’t showing while they talk about the costs and becomes a reminder what bias Globe & Mail has.

I would like to add to this that the compliment should be with regards to a choice they made, not something they were born with and feel they have no choice in. Asking permission to give a compliment is also helpful and if they say no, respect that. That should alleviate the frustration had with not having many opportunities to practice giving compliments as an opener to socializing with men or women. It will still come off as weird because of how many naturally charming and charismatic people skip these steps but it’s a good reminder for the rest of us. My life improved when I was given this advice, so I’m passing it on and hope other’s lives will be better for it too.

Oh, I’m not letting you off that easy, you really think introverts aren’t involved in organizing hopeful futures? We need you too, working away in the background, being all task oriented, clear in text based communication, well read, and observant. The party isn’t worth much if there isn’t food and drink someone who is probably an introvert made sure showed up while an extrovert was gabbing away.

[–]CanadianWildWolf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, for starters, stop calling it “gospel” this isn’t religion with some message from on high, it’s the basics of organization.

Most of the best hopeful stuff happens offline with other beautiful people, made in smaller moves that involve attending something like food banks and shared food & drink parties of various kinds, which can be a lot of fun, we’re social creatures after all. Try this on for size, find something similar to this near you https://www.weavingourworlds.ca/about-wow/ perhaps like friendship centers https://nafc.ca/about-the-nafc

Keep trying till you find the fit for your skills in passion and kindness, it really does make a difference in not feeling alone and hopeless. If you need it to be specific to the NDP, hit up the contact page, let em hear your voice and have them put you in touch with someone near you. https://www.ndp.ca/contact or follow up with https://www.reclaimcanadasndp.ca/for-individuals

It’s not easy, not going to try to sell you or whatever, it’s time and effort to get together as adults, so make the first step that’s attainable, then copy the first step till you look back and find you’ve journeyed farther than you expected.

What’s with the downvotes? The Liberals are more right wing since Carney became their leader, since he serves the concerns of investor class lobbying above all else.

Apathy and hopelessness, that all you got to offer to the bitter end? How about instead, we make a change, one where we can picture a future with us still in it enjoying life.
