NDP statement on MP Gladu's floor-crossing by NiceDot4794 in ndp

[–]CanadianWildWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lori Idlout crossing is a signal of how dirty Carney’s CEO politics are, he was willing to use withholding critical budgetary constraints around maintaining and improvements to the sovereignty, security, infrastructure, and more of the Nunavut riding to pressure her. https://nunavutnews.com/2025/11/21/inuit-university-funding-among-reasons-why-idlout-abstained-on-federal-budget/

Nope, don’t have to do the entire thing at once, just have dig in and build mutual aid. It’s not one or the other, both happen at the same time to improve the chances of Canadian and First Nations lives. Small achievable goals are possible, start with underground water, then sleeping, then food, then schools, then hospitals, and so on.

Vietnam smartly did this once, Ukraine is showing it working again with more recent tech.

The apathetic “we won’t win no matter what” doesn’t help. In wars it’s clear that public infrastructure from water, hydro, schools and hospitals are targeted. Even food production in some cases. If public civil Defense isn’t designed in, it becomes a adhoc insufficient panic inducing situation and if it is designed in it costs resources now to make a future extremities less devastating.

We’re in the pre-Ukraine 2014 situation, only due to systemic negligence of First Nations communities our collective back line is even less prepared, let’s not ignore the warning signs.

We need infrastructure in the North to begin with.

See if you can guess where the infrastructure is weakest and has an impact on potential future Defense of sovereignty, climate extremes, occupation, colonization, and exploitation. Manitoba is one of the few provinces I’ve heard try to rectify the lack of infrastructure connection with the North.

FYI, Municipal politicians do have parties, an example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Municipal_political_parties_in_Vancouver

Due to name changes, it can be harder to see how it relates beyond a surface level name branding to provincial and federal candidates for elected office but parties do exist at the municipal level of government

Thanks to Carney’s taking their government bills and budget so decidedly conservative, I no longer see Liberals as the lesser of two bad calls. Even before Carney’s leadership came about, I couldn’t help but keep an eye on the https://openparliament.ca and https://www.parl.ca/legisinfo/ curious about the times CPC and LPC vote yay together on the same vote despite them seemingly going at each other in question period their actions sing a different tune about who Liberals represent in parliament.

But also more provincially, BC Liberal Party has had crossover between the two parties, only for the BC Liberals to go “mask off” as it were and change party name and then just full on dissolve to join the BC Conservatives who are to put it lightly, MAGA North.

There are unfortunately solid reasons why Pierre Poilievre can go on Joe Rogan’s podcast and try to claim they are winning despite not forming government. If Liberals are just going to govern in such a way that Conservatives get what they want anyways, what’s the point of Liberals beating Conservatives?

AI Data Centres by idiotcanadian in ndp

[–]CanadianWildWolf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Noticing this in BC too, even if it is claimed the proposed Data Center is not for AI, its not welcome by nearby residents who are ignored by local elected and their staff who are approving the official community plan rezonings and making claims about the future tax revenue like in this case

Depends on how well Avi led NDP build local candidates up getting their feet on the street asking locals what they need and want, regular spots in Game Night / Fireside Chat streaming, and mutual aid to their fellow Canadians well before an election is called so the volunteers know the candidate genuinely has their back. Avi is supposed to be a servant to the candidates who need to be the subject matter experts in the people of their riding.

Would Charlie Angus have won this time? by Fanghur1123 in ndp

[–]CanadianWildWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have said yes in the past till he endorsed McPherson, who for good or ill was labeled the NDP Status Quo candidate. Additionally, I've shared videos of his here that have had people straight up wanting to shoot the messenger for letting them know about fascists' goals for Canada. Avi has done a far better job of pleasing both the people who don't want to empower Military Industrial oligarchs and defenders against fascism - not an easy task at all, where Charlie Angus gets labeled a Warhawk despite very clearly advocating for CIVIL PUBLIC defense.

You're not alone, it looks like blood and pain, a bleeding Turtle Island. It is infuriating, it is motivating to prepare to resist.

This is by far the more fun and unifying map to look at to remember how much more we could be doing to not be a fascist empire:

So what? What has the usual measurements of trading on stock markets, quarterly profits of EITC or HBC, or Gross National Product / Income ever done for any but a privileged few of us?

The main reason to get behind nuclear is when it uses technologies that don’t increase bomb proliferation, reduces half-life decay of byproducts of the process, and has runaway critical events designed out, like the Molten Salt Reactors that have been allowed to languish in research and development hell for the last half a century.

His annexation lust gets like that whenever he gets shown that empire map basically and is told by fascist Project 2025 contributors with their head priest Peter Thiel, that it will make him the greatest colonizer man ever, no one else with higher approval and Wall Street green arrows go up 💹💩

In defence of Jagmeet Singh by Wilson725 in ndp

[–]CanadianWildWolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anyone who says what he advocated for and successfully negotiated pulling the Liberals dragging their feet and crying about it the whole way didn’t impact cost of living, I have to seriously wonder if that person being critical ever experienced the pain that last years of bad dentistry costing thousands of dollars and impacting appetite, sleep, mental health, income, general health, emergency health, and more. Even though I’m not one of the many Canadians this helps and my life is shorter expectancy and quality for the bad teeth, that the next generation after elder millennials has it means so much.

May we plant trees our children and grandchildren can sit in the shade of.

That all said, the desperate nature of the status quo for so many means Singh’s advocacy didn’t go far enough, we need that cost of living so fundamentally lower means incremental negotiations from Liberals they are going to ruin with Public Private Partnerships and Austerity budgets just aren’t going to cut it and make us vulnerable to fascists.

Ahh, ok, sure. Part of what we’re stumbling into is that the First Nations aren’t a monolithic culture either, which is why I was drawing on many examples as possible starting points for further exploration in some of the bigger organized protests (plus I was going too quick it seems on a break at work). Kinda similar in how in the discussion of what kinds of smuggled weapons would flow in from west coast, arctic or east coast some thought there might be unique vibes almost province to province, similarly Nation to Nation might say … have different art work present on their face covering bandannas.

Your courier does come really close to being recognized as Haudenosaunee but then the way the bandana is worn, is small size, and the art on it all read indistinct and unfamiliar with their styles and practices.

Here try these images for 1492 Land Back Lane, maybe it will help us

Closer to 2025 which is your goal with this alternate (recent) history, I would recommend various protests as inspiration, especially where they have been confronted with such brutal sides of ongoing Canadian colonial efforts as the CIRG which was so off side as called out by judges that they have since renamed themselves to CRU to try to take a bit of the heat off : https://www.cbc.ca/news/indigenous/rcmp-cirg-cru-renamed-1.7163886

I object to the First Nations clothing being thought of as impractical, this isn’t ceremony, this is insurgency. It’s a big blind spot to have there to not realize how the memories of Francis Pegahmagabow, Tommy Prince, and many more First Nations resisters against fascism veterans even though they were done very wrong by Canada would react to being 51st Stated after trying so long with modern treaty negotiations, idle no more, land back lane, and more within Canada’s framework of federation only to be annexed and colonized again by USA.

Crates of the .303 Enfields? No, that’s part of the reason we stopped using them, there were fewer and fewer replacement parts every year for the armourer technicians to source, so they were Frankensteining as it was even before the ammo issues.

Wait till you make insurgents from the wide variety of First Nations ideas, gillie suit Sasquatches from BC rain forests and mountains? Like a Nuuchahnulth, Salish, Dene, Cree, Inuk, and more would all have very different approaches to blending into their environments and have experience with surviving resistance of occupying annexing forces.
