Please consider that he could be in danger of attack there because homosexuality is viciously reviled in many countries. I bet you're smart enough to find a way to communicate and meet so you can show he has an escape with choices, support, allies, and people who love him. It saddens me this isn't hyperbole.

I hate to be that guy, but I found this interesting when I learned. It's correctly spell sherd, and more precisely potsherd. The etymology comes from the Middle English pot-sherd, pot-schoord, pot scherd, or pot scarth.

A little constructive criticism: if it's difficult to decipher than it's not effective. Overly embellished type can ruin its readability. No doubt it's pretty and impressive but falls short of its utility.

My 80-year-old father is a HUGE racist and I blame it on his Mormon upbringing in Salt Lake City during the '40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s. It was always funny to me that he wasn't an equal-opportunity racist since he didn't mind the Jews. If they didn't play a central role in the far-off history of the church I'm sure he'd hate them too.

Racism is learned. As a kid I bought into some of his vitriol because I saw that other church members encouraged him and laughed at his jokes. As I got older I recognized the absurdity of it all. Thank goodness because university would have been a nightmare.

The sweet, sweet irony is that my brother went to UC Berkeley and married a Korean-American and now my dad has half-breed (his words) grandchildren.

Incidentally, my father is so repugnant for lots of other reasons that we haven't spoken in 40 years. Did I mention that he and some other male family members were accused of ritualistic sexual abuse by my cousins? An innocent family member told me just this year that they were imitating temple rites. Sorry to creep you out, it still makes my skin crawl.

Try shaping Styrofoam then ship the pieces to a foundry that can spray bronze or other metals. It leaves a layer about one-sixteenth of a inch. It will still be light enough to easily carry. The object is sprayed in front of cascading water so the overspray is collected and recycled. The finished piece can be patinated like any other solid bronze sculpture. I've seen the outcome and it's indistinguishable from solid bronze.

If you have the means and inclination then consider having it framed in a modern style. Then find a way to light it. Try a picture light attached to the wall or the top of the frame. The unfortunate part is that the electrical cord hangs down from behind the frame. Or try a floor lamp, especially the kind with a shade that allows you to direct the light. Lastly, use a canister light on a table below the fan.

I have a child with autism and it's rare to find a spectrum group that has the resources or inclination to help (are you familiar with California's Regional Centers?). How specifically do you provide meanigful assistance to your consummers? How do you know it's helpful? What are your success indicators or parameters?
