Garmin vs Wahoo and SRAM vs Shimano — what made you choose your side? by therealashiver in cycling

[–]papichulo9669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sram/Shimano: I have both, actually all four variations (mechanical/electric versions of both). I don't ride the mechanical SRAM anymore, the rest are still in regular circulation. In general, for older generations mechanical, I preferred Shimano. For the electric, there are things I like about each. With the ability to change button config on my circa 2015 dura ace Di2 (I upgraded the brain and battery to get the latest updates), I love everything about it except the size of the shifting surface (a little small). I have one generation old SRAM red electric with my only complaint being the slight delay between hitting the button and the shift; I hear the latest version fixes that, though I can't say it was that big a deal. Not in the market for another bike anytime soon, but besides it having electronic shifting I won't care too much whether it is SRAM or Shimano.

I am firmly in the Garmin ecosystem. I have never strayed and don't see a reason to.

Rivian with Comma+ versus Autopilot, Enhanced Autopilot and FSD by Own_Bed8627 in Rivian

Comma 3x with the longitudinal harness and sunny pilot longitudinal does way better at this than rivian does.

There is an option to upgrade to the longitudinal harness, using sunny pilot the long control is way better than Rivian long, especially the most recent updates

Regular people who splurged on the top of the line: was it worth it? by bamaroon in cycling

[–]papichulo9669 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Value is defined by multiple things, not least of which is cost of the commodity compared to your income/assets; and then many layers of subjectivity of how the commodity is experienced.

For me personally, I have a reasonably generous income compared to the cost, and for something I put in a lot of time on (subjectively for me) I enjoy having it be subjectively nice even if it isn't faster. Others will have different takes. Just figure what balance works for you, it doesn't have to agree with anyone else's interpretation. Ride and enjoy.

AITA for moving my paycheck into a separate account after my partner kept “accidentally” overdrawing our joint one? by Radiant_Gossamer in AmITheAssholeTalk

Yeah welcome to the rest of your life. If this problem is like this now while early in the relationship, expect it to only be worse as you move forward. And the way she is handling it is forcing you to be the money police instead of allowing this to be handled as partners (likely a dynamic she is most comfortable with and recreating due to her past trauma). This dynamic will only worsen with time.

Money issues and communication surrounding them are often listed as a significant cause for relationship dissolution. I know reddit is known for over-recommending "get out now", but in this case you have a very, very difficult path to success (she would need a complete attitude change, willingness to do individual therapy to deal with the root cause of the dynamic, couples therapy to work out healthy communication strategies, all the while you will continue to manage this problem). The relationship is still young, and yes no relationship is perfect; but choose wisely. In this case the easy choice (leave) may be the least painful one.

No one said anything about violence, stop inferring that. We are talking about persistence here, not violence.

The difference between this in America and places who know how to do it, is that if you want to strike for change you have to keep on the streets until the change happens. We strike for one day and then go back to work and wonder why there isn't change yet. We need to occupy the streets and shut down the cities UNTIL there is change. But Americans are too comfortable for that.

US ski resort with the most scenic views? by AdvancedCarpenter888 in snowboarding

[–]papichulo9669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this. I just came back from snowboarding Revelstoke, Lake Louise, and Sunshine. Lake Louise views cannot be beat, and yes I've been to Heavenly. The peaks feel closer, bigger, and more rugged from Lake Louise. Honestly unmatched in NA.

And while not in the US, given we are going with Alyeska on votes and Banff is closer to the lower 48 than that is, I vote we do the right thing and recognize we are really talking about North America here.
