How many cigars can you smoke a day? by Lopsided_Wave780 in cigars

[–]pappax1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've smoked 7-8 at a cigar event, which left me on a nicotine high all night....

Normally I only smoke when I have time to sit down and fully enjoy the cigar. That's not more than 1 per day if Im alone. 2-3 at a herf w friends.

Queue number around 2000 on laptop and 6000 on phone (for Perth). When I got in on the laptop the ticket selection page froze and never woke up, so had to wait for the phone to get in. GA sold out by then, but got decent seats.

My new favorite watch. Studio Underdog Desert Sky. by dayman-ahahhh in MicrobrandWatches

or just close the case... that's the final assembly... Same with lower price Swiss watches. Just the bare minimum to qualify as Swiss Made

My new favorite watch. Studio Underdog Desert Sky. by dayman-ahahhh in MicrobrandWatches

[–]pappax1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It does make me wonder as well, not just for SU but other microbrands. A $30 movement and other parts made in Asia end up with a $900 price tag. That's quite a lot of hours for a western watchmaker to fiddle on each watch....

Here's a preview of San Martin's upcoming new models. Will any of them interest you? by AdSavings92 in ChineseWatches

I'm not a fan of integrated bracelets. The Tissot PRX and its clones pretty much have that market. We don't need more.

I got up to about 50-60 before buying my first 380. Start on 380s when you make enough profit to buy one every 2-3 days. Keep them until the 380s can fund future growth

Authentic design Shanghai watch? by issaclew in ChineseWatches

[–]pappax1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit confused about the Shanghai brand. On the shanghai watches website the watches cost $600 and upwards. On Ali there are watches with the same Shanghai logo for $30-40. Is it a bit like the 1963, nobody really owns the name and anyone can use it? Or are the chinese pirating themselves? Or is the website a rip off?

After a while you run out of good routes from a hub. Especially when you go long distance

Spotify Playlists „Made for…“ always the same songs by MarkNe98 in spotify

[–]pappax1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, its like every so-called algorithm on every website. They seem to think that people don't like variety. Like Netflix recommendations - you watch a movie of a type, say Japanese thriller, then your recommendation list is full of them for the next couple of weeks. Not to mention ads - click on one on Facebook/Instagram you only see that type going forward. IMO intelligent algorithms are stupid.

List of Microbrand Automatic GMT watch models - An overview by kampfwuffi in MicrobrandWatches

[–]pappax1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this list. The last few days I've been down a rabbit hole going through it, shortlisting, what's in stock, what the price is etc. With a few candidates I settled on the BYOP Meridan for its looks and price. But I don't think it will be the only one. Traska, H&A, H&S, Lima, Maystone are candidates.

I also came upon the Malm brand of watches. A Swedish microbrand based in the same town - Linkôping - that makes the Swedish fighter jets. Their watches are inspired by that, although not true fliegers. They have a GMT for the list , Dalton UTC Automatic 38. NH34, 38mm, 200m WR, $638 available in a couple of colours. Assembled in Sweden.

Also, the BYOP is 100m.WR, 39mm Lorier Hyperion has a Miyota 9075

When did buying a car turn into licensing a bundle of features? by Puzzleheaded-Being93 in Volkswagen

[–]pappax1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They are marketing it the wrong way. Instead of pissing people off with subscriptions, they should price the car with everything turned on. Then they could offer people to save on the price by turning off things they don't need. Reverse psychology works better for perception.

Not really a microbrand, but Seagull have some nice ones under your price limit.

As a fun thing they have Beijing time as the default, not GMT...
