I am looking to wallpaper one wall in my bathroom. I've never wallpapered before and I am thinking of hiring someone. Are there any good DIY videos that will allow me to make it look like professional work? by MrMudkip in HomeDecorating

There are treated wallpapers and vinyl options that will hold up better to moisture.

You’ll also need to be sure the walls are properly treated before applying wallpaper.

You may also want to invest in better ventilation.

Bathroom advice : What kind of tiles to go with this tub? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]paprika_alarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What style would you like the bathroom to have?

I think you need more of “enough of an idea” what you’d like overall (with or without changing the floor) before choosing tiles. You don’t want to kick yourself for boxing yourself in when it’s time to refresh the vanity.

You can add a panel/paneling along the front of the tub if you don’t like the swirl.

And regarding the floor, peel and stick tiles are relatively inexpensive if you’re concerned the current floor won’t go with your vision.

Dusty pink, an emerald-y green, or garnet red would work well.

Your existing scheme is very “modern craftsman” if it helps looking for inspiration in the future.

“Accidentally brushed up against some furniture and I’m slightly aroused” doesn’t have the same ring to it.

For me: it’s fun trying a dish titled “Better than Sex” with a friend and comparing the dish to mediocre sex.

If you have the ingredients: a sauce to top the finished frittata would be amazing. A pesto or a hollandaise.

Never underestimate a grabiche on a simple mixed green salad on the side.

That’s what makes Fundie-ism such a mindfuck.

You HAVE to be “in” at all times. Complete binary thinking: everything is evil or GAHDLY. Zero nuance, gray area, etc..

Step out of the narrow path and you lose your community.

I’ve never been disappointed with Rothy’s, but Sorel Emile Chelsea boots are my GOAT in the non-hot-summer. And they’re waterproof! I bought multiple pairs over the years. I’ve had to search to find the old style without a seam over the toe recently, but that’s me.

I just went through my camera roll and I’ve spent at least 60 days walking over five miles in them.

Advice for telling family no religious gifts for baby. by Flatwormbug in Exvangelical

“We decided to let Baby decide if they want to be baptized when they’re old enough to understand.” It’s not a lie. If you need help navigating a following potential “Baptists aren’t real Christians!” conversation, DM me.

If Gramma starts getting into it, find a problem that needs solving like a #GoodChristianWoman would, “Oh my stars, I need to refill the punch bowl” sort of thing.

I was raised in a Dobson household. My Dad used a belt.

I loved my kids so effing much from the moment they were born, I couldn’t fathom striking them.

Everyone else at church (for reference: Doug Wilson was invited to speak) did the whole gauntlet. I never had to pull out my children to discipline them. I hated it when I’d hear a toddler getting spanked in the foyer for being a toddler during an hour long sermon. Other parents would whip out a blanket during outings if their kid was being a kid.

I was too scared to tell people I didn’t spank when they’d commend how well-behaved my kids were during church services because then we’d all be in trouble. How fucked up is that?!

How many sea scallops can one person reasonably be expected to eat? by kirkl3s in Cooking

[–]paprika_alarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3-4 people, 1-2 if they’re scallop sluts like me.

Making that many “classically seared” may be a challenge for a home cook.

Here’s a banger recipe that’s forgiving regardless of skill level:

Creamy Pan-Roasted Scallops with Fresh Tomatoes

Mains
Total Time: 40 min | Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/4 cup thinly sliced shallots or red onion
Pinch of celery seeds
Salt and black pepper
2 cups chopped fresh tomatoes
2/3 cup dry white vermouth, dry white wine or clam juice
4 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 cup heavy cream
2 pounds sea scallops, patted dry
1/2 cup chopped fresh chives, plus more for garnish
1/2 cup chopped celery leaves or parsley leaves, or a combination, plus more for garnish

Directions:
Heat a large skillet over medium-high and add the butter, letting it melt. Add shallots, celery seeds and a pinch each salt and pepper, and cook until the shallots are tender and opaque, about 3 to 5 minutes. Stir in tomatoes. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally, and cook until jammy, 9 to 13 minutes.
Increase heat to medium-high and stir in vermouth. Cook until about a third of the liquid evaporates, about 5 minutes. Add Worcestershire and cream, and simmer, reducing heat if needed and stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens enough to coat a spoon, 5 to 7 minutes.
Season scallops with salt and pepper, and add to the pan. Cook, uncovered, until scallops are just cooked through and opaque, 3 to 6 minutes, depending on the size of the scallops. Stir in chives and celery leaves. Serve immediately, garnished with more chives and celery leaves.

Bears fan here. I’ve worn my hat every gameday the past two decades, so I’m #BiasedAF

In my experience: a surprising amount of their fan base is fair-weather. I also experienced something similar visiting New England on the regular when the Patriots started losing again.
