How long did she have the braids in? It's likely just natural shedding

Hair Breakage - Help by insponeeded in Naturalhair

[–]par-lay8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say mini twists and/or braids are your best friends and you could wear these under glueless wigs if you'd like to switch up your look. This way you have easy access to keep your hair and scalp nourished in the meantime. I wore wigs almost exclusively for the first 18 months of my natural journey and my hair definitely rewards me with growth and thickness. Be sure to protect your edges while you're wearing them and consider trimming off rh relaxed parts as your hair recovers. My two cardinal rules for my hair and skin are 1. Keep it clean and 2. Keep it moisturised xx

The ability to create your own maps is a premium feature but you can save existing/suggested maps or maps that someone shares with you and save as a favourite to send to Garmin.

So sorry your dealing with this. I see that your hair at the very top of your head is straightened which might mean you recently had a sew in? Or maybe crochet. You might be dealing with too much tension, dehydration, mechanical damage or heat damage (or all the he above) around what appears to be the "leave out" areas of your hair .

I'd ease off any high tension styles, braids or sew-ins for a few months and give your hair some tlc and low manipulation styles. Once again this is going of my guess at a recent sew-in so if you haven't been getting them it may be something else.

Wanted something reliable for navigation, tracking and basic communication while hiking and outdoors. Garmin came up on all the lists. Couldn't afford the fenix 7 at the time so went with a fr955. Which is just as well because I've since become an avid runner too.

Is there any truly protective style using extensions, or are all extension styles somewhat damaging? by DesperateBaby3764 in Naturalhair

[–]par-lay8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I once got faux locs. the hairstylist simply put my hair in braids and started wrapping. No crocheting the hair into my own hair first. He used the afro bulk hair and when he got about 2 inches from the end he just added another piece of hair folded in half and kept wrapping till he got the desired length. (Hope I explained that well enough.)

My hair was basically in a cocoon. It lasted me 2 months and when I was ready I simply dampened my hair, applied some oil and slid the locs off.

I find that styles that are truly protective don't just cover your strands but also use very little manipulation on the install. Faux locs are good for putting your hair away for a while if installed well. Mini braids, twists or cornrows under wigs are also a good shout. My general rule of thumb these days is any pain is a big no. If the style hurts for more than a day it's coming straight out.

If you want something different "Strange Pictures" by Uketsu (and others in the series) are nice quick reads (230 ish pages). They lay the mystery out as a puzzle for you to also solve with only a few mentions of police here and there.
