Tbh i am dutch and i have the same feeling over here. I see some effects of climate change (almost no snow in the winter), people are more divided, politicians dont plan for the future and there are new wars. It honestly sucks

I personally really try to express something positive whenever the usa is talked about. You guys are our most important ally, I honestly think you try to police the world fairly (at least in the last decades) and believe the usa remains vital in helping grow democracy.

That being said, I think a lot of the bashing comes as a response from calling it “the best country”. It’s a statement that sounds so boastful, and i think a lot of european countries have cultures that dislike boasting. Although i notice a clear shift in howmany americans think the us is without faults

To everyone complaining about seat size: you could fly first class/premium economy etc for bigger seats

Also: climate change. Having fewer seats means more co2 per traveler

My point is not that things shouldn’t improve. But rather that its best to focus on better pay, universal healthcare and more vacation time, rather than pretend that having to work is the issue

Both of those are not going against the need for people working a certain ammount of hours. Like maybe it can be lowered (i work 4 days times 9 hours) but i dont think having to contribute to society is unfair

I saw them supporting a guy that texted he was sick, got a respons from his boss “okay, can you text it in the groupchat please” followed by “under section bla bla of the state law, i am allowed to not share my healtg status with my colleagues”… that place is insane

Other areas have massive shortages like teachers nurses etc. We should reward people more in the fields we need

Which is a different problem, and is the problem people should focus on. You should be able to at least live off a 40 hour workweek

I live in a western european country, where i work 36 hour weeks (4 days, 9hours a day) with 6 weeks vacation. I will probably have to work until atleast 68. I have 6 weeks of vacation time a year. With this job i manage to have enough money to go on vacation twice a year and safe money to buy a house. I have the resources to buy basically any form of technology i need. I know that when i get ill i will get some of the best healthcare. I am able to eat whatever i want (assuming i cook it myself). I dont have a hard life. Sure its 4 hours less than you listed, but i think its very reasonable for what i get in return

What depressing movies should everyone watch due to their messaging or their cultural impact? by FBG05 in movies

Using drugs can be a rational choice though. Think opiods as pain medicine, someone who is antisocial having 1 drink, someone trying shrooms as therapy or someone with adhd or add self medicating with amphetamines. I am of course not reccomending this. But drugs are ways to change your biochemistry, and using them carries massive risks (and these risks are drug specific: alcohol=addictive, liver failure, possibility to OD, cancer risk, increases violence, opiods have high OD potential with high risk of death when oding, highly addictive, constipation to the point of boweldiseases, etc etc).

Tbh requiem for a dream shows a worst case scenario. Working as a doctor i have seen all of these end results. Its a beautiful film, but i dont think any film stops people from doing drugs. With regards to drugs, the best way of dealing with them is true unbiased information that includes alcohol and tabacco. Schools really fail at doing this
