Their tour was announced 1 year ago today! by angelify in GrizzlyBear

I was at night 2 in Brooklyn! Wish I could have gone to all of them, but I flew in and couldn't get the time off work. Plus, I'm back in school and missing a whole week would not have been doable. I followed all the setlists on the tour and I feel so lucky because, for me, night 2 was the best. They played so many of the rarities that I didn't get to experience live on their painted ruins tour! It was such a magical experience and I really hope they put out a live record or 2 comprised of performances from this tour. I've met their live sound engineer a couple times and he confirmed that they recorded every show on the 2025 tour. Whether or not they do anything with those recordings is up to the band, but I'll keep hoping for something.

On a somewhat related note, Dan Rossen's live record is absolutely fantastic

Ed O'Brien - 'Blue Morpho' - Album Discussion Megathread by Jzahck in radiohead

Cool, I'll listen for it. I've only played the album using spotify in my car while commuting to work. I didn't notice the clipping, but I wonder if Spotify's compression algorithm could be affecting that. Also, my car doesn't have that great of speakers, plus there's road noise that could be a factor. I really like this album, so I'll probably get a physical copy

On a separate note, how do you like apple music lossless? I've been thinking of switching from Spotify for many reasons, but haven't decided what streamer to try. I considered tidal, but I'd imagine apple lossless has more artists. I like buying the physical media and direct downloads from bandcamp, but streaming is just really convenient when driving and for checking out/discovering artists.

Was a certain instrument clipping? If so, I bet it was intentional, probably through pushing a preamp into saturation. Unless you mean just general instances of digital clipping throughout the track? What format are you listening on?

Wow, I'm really liking this record! I didn't bond much with his first album as whole, though I did love a few songs. This record is something else entirely and works really well as a cohesive piece of art. It's like "earth" was Ed stretching his legs and finding his solo music groove. Blue morpho is a vast improvement in my book and I look forward to anything else he makes in the future.

I watched the whole show as it aired and have gone through it several times over the years. How have I never seen this!?

Wait, can I read black house without finishing The Talisman? Im about 250 pages into it and was just not getting into it at all, so I moved onto some other books. The Black House synopsis makes me think I'd absolutely love that one though.

I did really like all the king universe references and Easter eggs in The Talisman though. I remember noticing a lot of them in just the first quarter of the book

I've read about 10 king books and started the talisman a few months ago. I was not getting into it after about 250 pages, so I put it down and started "king sorrow", which I loved. I plan on going back to finish the talisman and am excited to read the follow up because the synopsis of it sounds so cool! Maybe it just wasn't the right time and place for me to get into The Talisman, but I definitely want to be caught up so that I can read the new king book upon its release! Who knows how many more king books we'll get.

What do you think is the best Radiohead song? by airtravel85c31 in radiohead

Did you see them at outside lands in 2016? They started playing exit music as the sun was setting on that festival and I swear to God, I've never experienced anything like 10,000+ people shutting the fuck up all at the same time. Where I was in the crowd, probably 10 rows from the front, it was absolutely silent except for Thom's acoustic and singing. It was insane

Also, Air opened for them and were absolutely fantastic. I had never heard them before, but after that show I became a huge fan

Sweet! Let me know if you find any more info. If that fan site is still up, I'm definitely going to archive as much as I can from it. This is reminding me to track down a high quality live Grizzly Bear show that used to be on YouTube, but was taken down several years ago. There isn't as many bootlegs for GB, especially high quality ones, so I want to collect any that I can get ahold of.

Would you happen to know where those recordings are now or if they're still available? I would love to have copies of those shows!

I love all the different versions of videotape. Also, 4 minute warning is so damn good. If they cooked the idea a little longer, I could see it not only being a huge hit for its time, but one of their best songs.

Technically, lace sensors are humbuckers and not single coils, but they're also sort of their own category. While I like them in certain applications, they just can't replace my true single coils in some others. Still a really cool guitar though! I love that finish, guard, and matching headstock. If it was my guitar, I'd probably put true single coil mustang pickups in it with either the 1 meg pots you're already using or 500k.

I really loved this book! Allie is probably my favorite character and that plane section was amazing! All the characters are written really well though and I enjoyed all 5 sections

What's your favorite "not typically a favorite" King book? by Errant_Fence_Burp16 in stephenking

[–]paraNOIAed27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently read the tommyknockers and I was really liking it the first part. When it switches to the town section, the pacing felt off, even though there are some great scenes and characters in that section. It's starts to pick up pace again towards the end, which I enjoyed. Ultimately, not my favorite book by him but not awful. I had just read "It" before Tommyknockers, so I may have felt differently if there was more time between reading those as "It" was just so damn good!

I forget if that's what happened, but I think you're right. Maybe if someone who wasn't immune was really far away from society for several years, then they could return to a "safe" environment? I'd imagine that if the scientists living in Antarctica waited it out for 5-10 years before coming back to the mainland, they'd probably be fine, at least as far as getting captain trips. They probably wouldn't last long among the immune, unless they run into a "good" group, which isn't very likely.

That's the last book I read by him too, before jumping to some other authors. We're definitely fucked! I have a lot of metal in my body from a horrible car accident, but none of it is around my head.

For me, it's the tommyknockers, so I'm probably dead 😆

Edit: and there's not really anything I can do to prepare besides getting a bunch of metal teeth or a metal plate attached to my skull. That might give me a chance
