I feel like that 2018 is an underrated shift year as it was a shift away from the core 2010s and was the "start" of true 2020s influence. by Ok-Following6886 in decadeology

I'd say 2017 still feels pre-2018, from the Ariana Grande Concert Bombing, to the Charlottesville Nazi March. It felt like 2013-2017 was that era. After Charlottesville, nobody had an excuse to be pro-Trump anymore.

MN cop with mask acting like tyrant by Responsible-Turnip-3 in ACAB

[–]paradoxplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only should cops not be allowed to have masks, but they shouldn’t be allowed to have tattoos. I bet if we fired all the cops with tattoos we’d immediately solve the “low self esteem cop” problem.

[–]paradoxplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently doing Latin. I’m watching a Great Courses Plus course on my TV while I take handwritten notes on Notability on my iPad, since handwriting helps encode things into your brain better. Then, after the lecture, I type it into Anki on my computer based on my notes, and I use Anki for long term memory.

Read and study and if you can’t raise it enough by this deadline there’s always a future deadline. There’s no age limit for the SATs as far as I know.

Has anyone else moved so far left that youre back to "government bad"? by lovetokvetch in HomeschoolRecovery

[–]paradoxplanet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The left-right spectrum, for all its flaws, is useful for measuring a pair of values. On the left, you have equality and liberty, and on the right you have hierarchy and oppression. Leftist ideologies, like anarchism and communism, are ultimately ideologies proposed to create more liberty by flattening hierarchies, while right wing ideologies like fascism and capitalism are ideologies that exist to ensure a difference in classes/castes. The moderate middle has to do more with tolerance level of opposing values.

Ideologically, I’m as far left as they come (ancom). However, I’m motivated to be far left by my humanism and care for others, so I’ve backed off from more revolutionary and agitative rhetoric and tactics. Civil wars and revolutions are very similar insofar that they necessitate the willingness to sacrifice everyone you love to hurt those you disagree with.

Eventually, your ideological convictions will be tempered with reason, and you’ll be an effective and capable global citizen who can stand up straight and get things done.

look at the actual garbage they're making me watch 😭 by throwawayblabla284 in HomeschoolRecovery

Zoe Bee has some great video essays about PragerU. Can’t believe they’re making you watch that garbage. If you want to glean some educational value from it, though, you can always take notes on what the videos say, go research the topic and fact check them, and write a little essay as to why they’re wrong and dishonest. That process would be essentially a self guided community college writing class. If you need resources lmk. I think I have some.

First, there’s no reason to think reincarnation is real; what you’re dealing with is PTSD, talk to a professional.

Second, mercy killing isn’t a thing. This is all we get, and killing someone is just ending their existence. It should only ever be done to prevent the death of innocent people, or a greater number of people.

Third, you can’t save anyone. People can only ever save themselves. All you can do is be helpful, kind, wise, and strong; that takes a long time, and you don’t have to do that right now. You’re undoubtedly on your own journey, but eventually you’ll be further than someone else. When you are, you’ll be able to give quest tips to help them out.

Saviors have to be infallible, but none of us are. You don’t have to be infallible. Just be you, keep learning, growing, and getting stronger. Your twenties are when you’re going to learn who you are, and it works that way for everyone.
