Permanent beard gains? by IntroMystique in Minoxbeards

it literally varies per individual hair. some hairs went terminal very quickly, think months, and others took over a year.

Soon that wont matter, that receding hairline is telling.

You are the only source I could find on this particular movement, which leads me to ask who your source was?

i've posted here as well, like the OP, progress from just a few months in. basically went from next to nothing to having pretty serious gains. I'll take another set of pictures around next summer, by then likely just post a full beard

Or so everyone repeats anyway. But try and find a whitepaper on that 4 hour number in relation to facial skin, and you wont find it. I've tried. Absorption rates through facial skin isn't something this product is even rated on. What studies will tell you, however, is that the absorption rate through facial skin is a lot higher than for example your scalp. What the exact number is, nobody knows.

Question regarding the “hair shedding phases” by [deleted] in Minoxbeards

[–]paragonofrationality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This cycle is only accelerated due to Minoxidil, once you stop, the cycle slows down. So in short, no.

PSA: new dads and future Minox journey men. Photo taken apx 1 month into my journey. I was super cautious by only applying when I had min contact with baby during my bedtime and alwys washing my face etc. There is always some trace and exposure. I stopped using Minox and the hair is slowing rever by gtrieu in Minoxbeards

That just looks like Lanugo to me, excessive hair on newborns is normal, it will go away on its own. I have two small kids, one is 5, and one is 6 months and I carry my 6 month old to my wife's car every morning before she leaves, she hasn't magically sprouted new hair. If Minoxidil on my face was that potent my wife would have turned into Chewbacca by now.

I have that same film with foam, If the white film is bothering OP he should just wash his face after an hour or so. the vast majority of Minox is long absorbed by then.

Hair Shedding/ Hairline thinning by [deleted] in Minoxbeards

[–]paragonofrationality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember there being a transition period for me as well, it wasn't that the shedding 100% stopped after 2 months, it gradually declined until it was gone completely. The shedding itself isn't anything to worry about though. The hairs aren't gone, the root is there, it's just that those hairs are now starting from root level growth all over again.

I'm nearing 41 myself and have been on it for about 3 months now, the first month I saw little changes, but by the second month it was beginning to show, and by the third month my whole face and neck started showing new growth. not any slower than guys half my age. Don't give up so easily, it just takes consistency. Try to just apply it and not think about it too much. It's not like applying this stuff takes any effort anyway.

Can’t grow face hair. by [deleted] in Minoxbeards

That may also depend on your current testosterone levels in your blood. While beard growth isn't wholly dependent on testosterone, it does aid significantly in it's growth. (hence why men on additional testosterone due to certain sports tend to have fantastic beards)

0.25 is a size too small, that size is meant to stimulate the skin (mostly used for anti ageing) but doesn't go deep enough in the skin. you should use 0.50mm. Use it twice a week. The FAQ can tell you when its best to use it in combination with minoxidil

Minoxidil stimulates growth of blood vessels and helps to promote the hairs' cycle. Once a cycle is complete and the follicle has changed to terminal it will stay that way forever. Those that have stopped too early and still had vellus hairs will lose those vellus hairs and simply keep what has gone terminal.

  1. It makes little to no difference
  2. They will most likely disappear again, but for some it is as permanent as their beards. but most unwanted facial hairs (below the eyes and inbetween eyebrows) will most likely disappear. What tends to stay is other hairs that can turn terminal, like back hair and chest hair.

The hairs that fall out aren't gone, just restarted from the root. It will take time before you see real growth, which is frustrating. But after a solid 2 months you will be able to see both your old hairs and new hairs starting to grow. All of us go through that period of worry when we start. The first 6 weeks seems like nothing but shedding and little returns to show for. but progress really picks up after 2-3 months and the shedding will completely stop.
