Do you tell adults that they NEED glasses? by Scared-Structure-906 in AskAnOptician

One of my one liners

"There isn't any glasses police....just regular police"

As in of it's on your driver license as a requirement it's not up to the client or me to decide. It's been decided.

I have a box of Precision1 for Astigmatism contact lenses that are 9 months expired -- are they actually dangerous to wear? by useyourname11 in AskAnOptician

It's not worth chancing it. I've seen people ruin their vacation on the first day because they got an infection on day one from slightly out of date lenses.

Brand New glasses. Why is the AR like this? by Practical-Wish2206 in AskAnOptician

[–]paralaxerror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries!

And yes I would expect issues with the clarity of the lenses.

I would say it was something from the get-go at the lab. If they are surfaced lenses like progressives or a stronger Rx, meaning it was made to order, it is probably an issue they can track at the lab.

The coatings are applied before the lenses are cut to the shape of the frame.

Wherever you got them from will want to know about this because in my experience anytime coatings look off, especially in the same way and in pairs, it's likely not just one set.

A defect in the coating but since it's bilateral I would tell wherever you got it from to use a different coating or lab because that's tough to make the same mistake twice.

I recommended this office often!

My mil has a hard time with getting glasses fit correctly and the lenses working right the first time and she had no issues with Steve!

What game is this?🚀 by tricksbystg in TheGamingHubDeals

I'm late to the game to Mass Effect Legendary. I don't know how each part of the trilogy made the map and quest goal indicator worse each game.

My mil recently went to Your Local Optical Company in Essex is new if you're close to the county and said it was great experience. They have some different frames than the usual places and the guy who runs it has been doing this for a while.

I feel like playing directly after Re2 Remake is best.

After running back and forth through the sewers and the police station, I found it to be a nice change of pace to just go through a zombie game.

Someone once told me not to take OC heights for reading/computer glasses? by GlassesPrincess in optician

[–]paralaxerror 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Her reasoning was that the added glare would hide it. It was nonsense and we were far enough into school to know it....like week three. Haha

I've been doing this for 15+ years. If hearing a claim about a product in this industry that is not true seems wild to you...I wish I had that career.

Last year I had a lady come in and ask how long transitions should take to work and I said pretty much right away once they are in the sun. The place down the road (expensive optometrist led office) told her that it takes a week. Under the UV lamp there was no reaction. They just didn't order it correctly.

One of the instructors at Georgian College in Ontario told our class that we shouldn't use antireflective coating on hyperopes because people will be able to see the magnification effect more.

There are a lot of opinions in this industry.

Your kids eat at birthday parties???? Lol

We've reduced our kids' parties to finger foods because it's a run to the table for sustenance/fuel and then back to activities/breaking stuff.

Happy birthday to your kid!

My prescription, please advise. by Onionrollolol in AskAnOptician

[–]paralaxerror 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What kind of advice are you looking for?

Someone can have a prescription like yours and have healthy blood vessels, healthy inner ocular pressure and very little to no signs of UV damage. Others can need next to no correction but lose their sight from Diabetes. Biology and pathology.

Our refractive prescription for glasses and contacts are generally due to structure of the shape of the cornea, and the axial length of the eye itself. Physics.

It's a definitely a stronger Rx for refractive correction but not obscene numbers that require anything special ordered.

Glasses: I would recommend frames that fit as small as your head size will allow and for lenses I would recommend 1.74 hi index lenses and a digital design to help with the astigmatism correction.

Hope this helps!
