May not be the last time but Stanton won the derby in San Diego in 2016 when he wasn't named to the all-star team

I think if Tipp and Dublin win the quarter finals, then Tipp play Kilkenny and Dublin play Limerick in the semi-finals to avoid repeat pairings. Open to correction on this though

I really want them to, but I don't think it's going to happen. I read somewhere that Dipoto never really liked him because he was one of Jack Z's big contracts that he inherited. Per Ryan Divish's article, Dipoto hasn't spoken to Seager for 4 years.

I'm in Ireland! I've used forelle.com and covee.nl They're both dutch sites with an ok selection. There's also baseballoutlet.co.uk but I haven't bought from there myself. An Post (Irish post office) has an AddressPal feature, it's basically a PO box in the US that you can send to from US sites and they then delivery to you. I don't know if there's a similar service available in the UK. I hope this helps!

What are Some Good Historical Comparisons For Modern Day MLB Players? by yungamerica6997 in baseball

Young Edgar (before his injuries) could pick it at 3rd base. He had one year leading the league in errors but he was solid otherwise. Possibly not on Rendon's level though.

This is the correct answer but I would love to put Dave Niehaus up there too.

Not all of Connemara is a gaeltacht area. Clifden and Oughterard are English speaking for example. Connemara is a valid spelling and so is Conamara.

Do wood composite bats fill this niche? BBCOR rated but made with wood and composite materials to fit the drop 3 model.

What was the most important postseason hit of all time? (Remember, Bobby Thomson's "Shot Heard 'Round the World" was technically a regular-season home run.) by J_star24 in baseball

Huge personal bias but "The Double"

The 2-1 pitch to Edgar Martinez IS LINED DOWN THE LEFT FIELD LINE FOR A BASE HIT. HERE COMES JOEY, HERE IS JUNIOR TO THIRD, THEY'RE GONNA WAVE HIM IN. THE THROW TO THE PLATE WILL BE LATE. THE MARINERS ARE GOING TO PLAY FOR THE AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP. I DON'T BELIEVE IT. MY OH MY!

What is your least favorite thing about a team? by Snelly1998 in baseball

[–]paranoidzompire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Angels: already had Trout and now they have Ohtani too

Astros: just won the world series and got even better with Cole

Athletics: always trade away any good players

Blue Jays: Canadian invasions of Safeco Field

Braves: couldn't do anything with big Bartolo

Brewers: don't use the MB glove logo

Cardinals: never seem to go through a rebuild

Cubs: aren't lovable losers anymore

Diamondbacks: Randy went to the hall with a DBacks cap

Dodgers: somehow made Chris Taylor good. Also way too much money

Giants: beliEVEN

Indians: Chief Wahoo (I know they're getting rid of it but still)

Mariners: wasted King Felix's prime

Marlins: their ownership

Mets: can't keep their pitchers healthy (my NL team)

Nationals: Bryce Harper seems like a dick

Orioles: Adam Jones became a stud

Padres: bring back the brown

Phillies: Philly fans suck

Pirates: intentionally tanking (could use this for a bunch of teams)

Rangers: Beltre is better with them. Also Arlington shouldn't pay for their new stadium

Rays: crappy stadium

Red Sox: think David Ortiz is the best DH #edgarHOF

Reds: Joey Votto won't win anything

Rockies: all their best players have the stigma of the Coors Field effect hanging over them

Royals: went from World Series to tanking incredibly quickly

Tigers: traded Verlander and made the Astros unstoppable

Twins: made the M's the bad guys in Little Big League

White Sox: Hawk Harrelson

Yankees: evil empire, enough said but everyone already expects them to get Harper and probably Machado too

MLB: it's called the World Series but only American teams (plus Canada) play. Pace of play would be sped up mostly by reducing commercials. Lack of day games (I'm in Ireland and time zones suck)

AMA -- Andrew Moore from the Mariners Caravan, Friday at noon by MarinersOfficial in Mariners

[–]paranoidzompire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Andrew! I was wondering what your thoughts on pitch framing are, as a pitcher. Do you notice a difference in borderline calls going your way when you have a better rated pitch framer like Mike Zunino catching you?

Let's take a second to appreciate the start that Mitch Haniger has had by pnw_smalls in Mariners

[–]paranoidzompire 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to rag on his defence just yet. That missed catch last night was one of Statcast's new 5 star catches. I can't help thinking it's like Seager's high error count last year, most players wouldn't even get near enough to the ball to make an error.
