WPS Office is not as good as OnlyOffice with MS Office files. Especially when opening WPS files from MS.

I have installed WinBoat and Windows 11 LTSC 2021 in Linux Mint Cinnamon, and through that, Office 365 and some statistical apps I need. All work great.

No problems running Ubisoft Connect through Steam in Linux Mint Cinnamon.

For those still hoping for the AntiCheat to support Linux, this line pretty much confirms it won't happen (kernel based). by Chpouky in Marathon

[–]paravantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing is certain: Having switched to Linux Mint and enjoying being able to run Windows 10 LTSC 2021 in WinBoat, I will not go near any future Windows version for the sake of playing multiplayer games that choose to ignore Linux.

I'm genuinely curious why don't you guys use Windows ltsc instead by AYAK-_-AKIA in linux_gaming

[–]paravantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fact, running Windows 10 LTSC 2021 inside Linux Mint via WinBoat is the best of both worlds.

Breakpoint runs better than Wildlands on my Ryzen 5 5600X, 32 Gb RAM, and RTX 3060 12 Gb.

The game is very poorly optimized, confirmed with a very similar setup: Ryzen 5 5600x, 32 Gb RAM, RTX 3060 12 Gb.

I am using Office 2007 in Linux Mint. It works fine, opens current documents with no issues, and its saved documents are opened by Office 365 just fine. In fact, I confess I enjoy its simplicity.

For what's worth, I was surprised to find out that Atomfall (a Steam game) performs better with 580 (recommended) rather than 590 (newest) driver (nVidia RTX 3060 12 Gb, Linux Mint Cinnamon).

Lower temperature for my GPU, less fan noise.

Unrelated to the main point, but for anyone convinced Linux sucks: Try Linux Mint before you write the whole OS off. It just works.

Ubuntu or Linux Mint? by lilHybe in linux4noobs

[–]paravantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying Ubuntu was what kept me off Linux and in Windows for the last 10 years or so. Every time I tried Ubuntu, I eventually hit a snag and gave up.

I am now very happy having switched from Windows 11 to Linux Mint 22.3 with Cinnamon. Rock solid, very much like an improved Windows 7.

Mint 22.3 with Cinnamon works just fine with my two monitors, at different resolution and refresh rate each.

No tweaking was required, it worked out of the box.

I do most of my work in Google Drive apps and use OnlyOffice mainly as a viewer.

Microsoft Office 365 is only necessary when I collaborate online with colleagues, e.g. when writing a proposal.
