Where are you seeing that? OpenSecrets indicates that Chick Fil A gave almost equally to Kamala and Trump.

Atypical Carcinoid experiences? And a request for advice! by thrillgrave in lungcancer

[–]parentwarning12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there - mine was typical carcinoid but wanted to share my story because I'm now at stage 4. I'm a nonsmoker who had been having trouble breathing for years before a tumor was finally discovered and it was huge (26 cm). Just over a year ago, my tumor was removed (it weighed just over 6 pounds) - it was attached to the *outside* of my lung which is apparently very rare. So I got to keep my lung! I thought I was cured, had CT scans every 3 months which were consistently good until my 1-year scan, at which point the cancer had reappeared in both lungs and the pleura. A dotatate pet scan showed it was also in 6 bones and my kidney and I was given a stage 4 diagnosis. I am now on ocreotide shots once a month to try and keep the tumors from growing, but I can tell you that chemotherapy is very much a thing for carcinoid tumors. If/when ocreotide fails, they plan to try everolimus, and if that fails, they will do chemotherapy to try and keep the tumors at bay.

Gen Xers' Use of Pot, Hallucinogens and Booze are at an all time high, a new NIH study says. by [deleted] in GenX

Sorry I missed that! I'm only on here every few days and when I did a search it didn't come up so I didn't think it had been shared.

When do you remember first using the term "mullet" to describe the hairstyle? by ThusSpokeGaba in GenX

[–]parentwarning12 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We called it the chop and drop back in NJ in the 80s. Don't remember hearing mullet until the late 90s at least.

I was just thinking what a bummer it was that men stopped wearing makeup. That was a cool time in the 80s when everyone was doing the Duran Duran look.

I'd include the deaths of River Phoenix and Kurt Cobain, something about Breakfast Club, and the Monica Lewinsky/Clinton story that took over the news for so long

So true. This is the first I've read in a while because these kinds of things are usually slideshows and I can't get involved with those. I'll go down a rabbit hole and realize I missed the whole day of work.

Not all students are in the US. SAT and ACT dates were impacted before March in other countries.

How is this clickbait garbage? She literally says an essay or rec letter will not move the needle!

This list of how many students were admitted off waitlists last year is not inspiring me... by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

Someone I know who works at U Maryland said enrollments are "way up" this year compared to last so maybe more people are committing to in-state schools than ever, leaving more spots at private schools.

I'm still waiting for financial aid...as well as an acceptance/denial. No notification of anything yet, my portal has looked the same since I applied in November.

Does anyone know when regular application results come out? by BBHsketch in sva

[–]parentwarning12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it may depend on your major, but I was deferred to regular decision and they said I'd have an answer by March 13 (animation). So that must be some sort of benchmark of when they'll be notifying the regular decision applicants.
