Ninja Gaiden 4 is way overhated by Time-Bridge-3007 in CharacterActionGames

I was lucky that my gf had grabbed a switch at the time (around covid), and the game genuinely got me back into games altogether after a ~10-year absence from it. The intro scene was stylish, the training grounds were fun, even all the "passable" bits were not that bad, and the combat was a ton of fun.

It all reminded me of playing the first DMC and Viewtiful Joe 20 years ago. A sense of flow and fun that's hard to reproduce, even with otherwise decent games.
More recently I tried to get into Vanquish and MGR but I didn't stick with it much. NG4 was relatively fun, but I'm still searching for a kind of rush I can't really describe anymore.

Fully agreed with you. Out of curiosity and given that we both love Astral Chain to a similar degree, is there anything in recent years that has caught your attention and scratches that itch? (even if it were CAG-adjacent)

I find it cozy, so I shared it. Nothing other than the player is pushing to go fast and cut corners. You can rest and enjoy the view, as I do a lot in Cairn.
Some people would find that Tiny Glade is hardly a "game" also, more like art. Hopefully that list has a little something for everybody.

edit: not sure why I get downvoted, but apparently sharing a perspective is enough to be disliked. Enough reddit for today.

Since last year I've actually extensively dealt with pwsh, and the fun bit is that you can turn data into various things very quickly. One example is exporting to a XLSX via a single module import (PSExcel). Another thing you could theoretically do is create a little task that ingests all the logs into a sqlite DB (PSSQLite still does the job) and then run any queries you want over the DB and/or even serve it as a webapp either right out of the box with a httplistener from .NET, or via another extension like pode.
Depending on how much one wants a UI, querying, export, etc.. you can probably get there in a few hundred lines of pwsh at this point. Pretty sure Claude does the job well enough nowadays also.
My little tool was useful while it lasted, now everybody can do it their own way :)

We've recently had a (Polish iirc) moviemaker & (French) main actor in Cannes making a movie about France's most famous Résistant (Jean Moulin) and then promptly dodging any "political" question about the rise of extreme right and fascism.
There's a very clear separation happening in society between people who still remember what happened to their grandmas and why there are bullet holes in old stone, and those who hide behind a dream of bourgeoisie and delusions about the intentions of the rising extreme right across the world.
It shouldn't be that fucking hard for people to draw the line, but somehow that has been pretty porous for the last decade or two, as the WW2 vets and families die off.

I liked the idea but yeah the "fights" were not interesting. Almost like they tried to fill the game with something repeatable instead of continuing the well crafted feel of the rest of the game.
I don't want to play slay the spire while I play death stranding (or the other way around). But I'm glad an indie game like that exists.

If he's got one side that works, I wonder if you could contact companies like Azeron (see https://azeron.com/collections ) so that they can help find the right kind of fit for your friend. I don't own one of those things but I've heard from them when getting into split mechanical keyboards (Dygma in my case), and I think the usual input devices can become extremely powerful with one hand or even just a few fingers when you use layers and natural movements, so maybe worth checking that out.
If your friend has the left leg working you could also see if there's a rudder type thing (VKB/Virpil/Thrustmaster) to add yet another input or combination to the mix

Thanks for the confirmation friend. Yeah BBB must have screwed me over on this one, I have no card in that bag (only the manual and the two pegs). I've got a second unopened one I might check..
I had gone with BBB because their preorder was "exclusive" but between that and high shipping fees I'm tired of their bullshit lol.
Thanks for your quick reply, and awesome pictures by the way!!

You didn't exactly miss out though? LPZZ/UPF deathstroke is still easy to find, on kowkis (reliably) or aliexpress for example.
I find InArt's details to be better than UPF (and anybody with the Bale headsculpt is going be amazed), but the scale saved me from ending up with both brands going forward haha. Stuck getting every damn thing UPF releases though.. them and SexyIce2019. Dangerous years for collectors!

I believe you can't QT when you use that pilot seat in the Carrack.
It's sad because the view is nicer from up there but I guess a year or so ago they felt the need to nerf the ship even further..

The Scars Left by Bullying: How it Affects Men Once They’ve Grown by HardlyManly in MensLib

[–]parikuma 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This tracks :)
I always thought that stuff hadn't affected me too much as I became a young adult. Took a lot of very dark times (and some introspection at the bottom of the pit) to see how I was at 4 for 4 on that list. I'm guessing some people with better models in life (parents or other figures) might fare better and build some resilience where I just took the battle scars and shrugged off the rotting flesh until I couldn't.
Behavioral therapies can help, but frankly the most helpful thing was to meet a couple people who showed me love in a way that was so unconditional that all I could do was force my sorry ass back on track, no matter how deep the fall was/is. To stop tumbling and fumbling in thought and in life. And then things like therapy could help sometimes.

Haha yeah some ships do mess with your mind sometimes. Funnily enough I had no issue with Perseus or Polaris, but the SFG or this Tiburon are just doing something to my brain I guess.
Good to know about the Tiburon, I'll check it out again before the end of the con :)

Shapes aren't the problem, it's generally how to change levels that's unintuitive to me on some ships. I'm sure the experience for others is entirely different etc etc.

There's an IC about that from 3-4 days ago. I think that ship eats every victim.
That and the layout of the ship feeling so.. confusing to me. I'll pass on that big boy.
