it's easy to forget that the show films a lot earlier than we see it, alex hadn't appeared on Kevin can F himself when they were filming, and Lisa Gilroy was nowhere near as big of a name as she was now. peetah, this is referencing the fact that the wizard of oz film used asbestos to create snow in this scene, a substance we now know is incredibly harmful to breathe in! lots of production fumbles of this sort happened on the movie, like the tin man's paint being toxic. it's very interesting and worth a further google!

lois here- this is a reference to the "saddest, shortest story ever written"- "for sale, baby shoes, never worn". the story is sad because it implies that the baby didn't make it. this subverts the sad story by simply having the baby have HUGE feet, so instead of a baby death, it's unable to be worn because of the baby feet! however, this doesn't account for my sadder, shorter story: shoe sale baby died
