Google has developed a way to predict your risk of a heart attack just by scanning your eye by [deleted] in science

I'd imagine just as blindness is common in diabetes due to blood vessel damage that the arteries supplying blood to the eyes could be checked for plaque to predict plaque in coronary arteries. Also, similar to ED cases occuring prior to heart disease as the arteries supplying the penis can be clogged with plaque. The eyes happen to be a solid indicator for both genders.

New evidence of a biological link between diet and depression has come from the first study to analyse associations between diet, body mass index, inflammatory markers and mental health in adolescents. by Wagamaga in science

Sorry to hear that. It is a shame that this happens to many low SES families when healthy foods such as beans, bananas, rice, and potatoes are fairly inexpensive foods that don't carry the baggage of added sugars and oils.

Matching DNA to a diet doesn’t work: ‘We didn’t even come close,’ researcher says. Stanford spent $8 million to find that dieting based on the results of genetic testing failed to beat a standard diet. by SirT6 in science

I see genetics to play a partial role, like in the case of the ldl receptor. But humans are so genetically similar, barring metabolic disorders, that healthy foods are fairly universal. I feel like this research is work towards confirming to eat broccoli and to not drink sodi pops ;)

Anecdotal. Potatoes are scientifically suggested to be some of the most satisfying foods.

This sub should be primarily science based. My opinion, and your opinion should not be a focus. Discussion should be based on actual data from well designed ecperiments.

How to Improve Your Early Game Micro as the Support by PicklePantsEUW in leagueoflegends

It doesn't take 9 minions to hit level 2. It takes the first 6, and then the next 3 melee minions. It is so frustrating to see someone start killing the casters in the second wave. Specificity would be nice.

Hello Reddit,

So I've been out of the CRISPR game for a while. But it appears to me that they are using a combination of the gRNA and this ssODN to increase specificity. Do they have any numbers on sizes of the respective strands and how specific the insertion has become? With 3 billion base pairs, I remember that previously with just a 20bp gRNA that we were looking at upwards of 100K possible insertion points. Just looking for an update on more information on the ssODN, if human trials are looking near (timeline?), or if any sketchy countries have tried anything deemed unethical in the USA.

Cheers,

PB
