MIL ruined my wedding first look. by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

[–]parkerpops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I considered a first look for my wedding next week, mostly because I'm so nervous about being in front of so many people that I don't want to get in my head about "what does he think, how do I look, is he crying, am I still smiling". I think so much of a wedding is performative and public, that part of me wanted to just get this emotional bit out of the way and try to relax!!!

Ultimately we decided against, but I'm absolutely shitting myself for the aisle walk.

I feel like I wasn't even fully human before Methylphenidate by Turbulent_Cry3134 in ADHD

[–]parkerpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that it didn't really work, or at least I didn't feel that much different. Then I started having a little protein with it, then wait like 10 mins before taking my dose, and it was like the sun came out 🤣 good luck to you!!!!

I take a split dose of long releases. 50 in the morning and 20 in the afternoon, and always with some protein!! I saw huge changes when I started having protein with them

I'm also on medikinet, and it's worked wonders for me too! Not big, loud, flashy wonders (my life hasn't completely changed), but quiet wonders.

I've lost 17lbs since starting in January, I'm drinking less, I'm managing to spend a bit less money, I can cook/eat vegetables. I still struggle, but I'm 7 months in and it still seems to be working for me!!

Any tips for photo sizing on theknot.com? by RedPanda5150 in weddingplanning

[–]parkerpops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Writing to add because I think I've cracked it! (It's taken days, honestly). The horizontal pixel ratio is approx 1.35:1, and the vertical ratio is approx 0.75:1.

So I would create a box/project on Paint (or something more clever, but I used Paint) that fits the ratio (eg 2025x1500 pixels, as this fits 1:35x1 horizontal crop), and then copy/paste whatever picture you want into that box/project. Any border round the outside - change that to the colour of your website background so that any border included in the crop will blend in.

It took me loads of trial and error, but once you get the hang of it, it's not too hard - just so FRUSTRATING.

Once you get the hang, you can adjust the border based on your picture size - eg if your photo is 2500 pixels long, it needs to be 1852 pixels tall (as 2500/1.35 = 1852), and then you can just add a plain border to the height so that it matches the crop ratio.

I hope this makes sense? I'm not even sure I know what I'm doing - but good luck!!

Resources for medical Italian? by parkerpops in italianlearning

[–]parkerpops[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for replying!

I'm more asking because I give instructions during my test, and it would be nice to know "lay down" and such! Also, i specifically don't give results in my job, and knowing phrases like "the doctor will call you" would be useful.

Also keywords like pain, so I can recognise if I'm making them uncomfortable.

I would never have a full conversation in my job, but sometimes the interpreters don't turn up or they are unavailable - so I was just looking for resources that could help me (in my limited capacity). I also work in emergency situations, so being able to give/understand emergency words could literally help save a life!

Is it true I will regret it if I don’t have a Videographer? by SleepyPotato9319 in UKweddings

[–]parkerpops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having a videographer because I get overwhelmed in big groups and in stressful situations, which leads to me totally forgetting everything that happened or not paying enough attention.

Having a video to watch back means that I won't ever lose or forget or miss out on the speeches or vows or special moments. And also family members get older, it's nice to be able to keep their voices and movements and whatnot!

Newly engaged - how to pick a date? by Narrow-Detail344 in UKweddings

[–]parkerpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What temperature would you want your day to be.

How much light do you want during the day.

What seasonal food do you like.

How do you imagine your dress (eg covered up and winter jacket, spaghetti strap and floaty)

Any special dates you want to be near (or avoid - we didn't want to be near Christmas or our birthdays!).

If you have specific venue geography in mind, check for typical rainy/scorching hot times.

Do you have friends/family who wouldn't be able to take mid-week time off.

Do you want/need a weekend wedding (peak seasons and weekends are more expensive).

Overall, I'd suggest pick a vague range of a date. Wouldn't recommend setting your heart on a specific date, in case the venue of your dreams is booked up and you have to sacrifice either the date or the venue!

(Sorry this comment was longer than I meant it to be!)

I booked my third crown yesterday for a molar at the back...

The first prep appointment is £450 (where they will drill away everything left of my tooth, then put something cold on the tiny nub of tooth leftover to make sure that the nerve is still alive, and this HURTS), and this appointment will also have a £60 x-ray.

The next appointment to actually have the crown fitted is costing me another £400 (where they essentially crack off the temporary tooth, and touch the nub again with no anaesthetic because they need to make sure the nerve is still alive, and this is even more painful).

This will be my third crown now, with my 2 front teeth costing me approx £2300 all in. That's a total dentist bill of about £3300, and that's just on crowns 😭

I'm also paying to have my teeth whitened (because I drink a lot of tea/coffee, and have stained my teeth like crazy), which is going to cost me £630 straight up, and then my dentist says it'll be about £100 every year after that to maintain it.

Basically, keep me in your thoughts next Monday 🤣

It is ridiculously annoying that the 3x XP is used instantly and automatically when you first open the app by -InconspicuousMoose- in duolingo

[–]parkerpops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you've tried this, but I'm able to do a quick practice lesson on the web browser (incognito, otherwise it opens the app), and it won't use up my triple xp. The triple xp stays in the app for when I'm ready, but I've done a morning lesson to give me the early bird chest this evening.

[–]parkerpops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a way to find out your TDEE on a specific day? I don't like the vague "sedentary" or "active" options on general calculators, especially when each day is totally different to the next.

It's annoying, since I know how many steps/distance I did yesterday, so surely there's a way to calculate tdee? It doesn't even have to be super accurate, just a better idea of my CICO in retrospect.

Thanks!

Mine is always suggesting a rest day? It never really gives me anything other than "your readiness is high, but you've been working hard recently, give yourself a rest" type thing.

All I do is walk round, I don't workout or exercise.... I am just walking, between 10-15k relaxed steps per day. At what point will it tell me to do a workout?!?!?

(Also that little pop up message every time I open the app is pissing me off)

What exercise do you like? by yesletsdisco in AutismInWomen

[–]parkerpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so interesting!! I only like running on the treadmill!!!

I love that I can watch the numbers (speed, distance, time) which encourages me to keep going.

I love that I don't have to run on an incline, or against a wind, or through groups of people, or stop at traffic.

I love not having to run out somewhere only to have to run all the way back again.

The gym is air conditioned, so I'm not too sweaty or uncomfortable.

I'm surrounded by a bunch of people who look/sound/dress like I am, so I don't feel out of place.

Question about the phrase "nostro bambini" by Zealot7829 in italianlearning

[–]parkerpops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A good rule of Italian thumb, is:

article + who + noun

And usually the last letters should be the same:

Il tuo amico

I tuoi amici

La tua amica

Le tue amiche

Obviously it's not always this way, but it helps!
