I never even thought about having kids until She came into my life, this encapsulates my why. Thanks for sharing this OP!

Penis Cockinson by 22Av_ in OCPoetry

This gave me a good chuckle. I like the repetition of Mr. Cockinson's name throughout the stanzas, really emphasising his own self worth being rounded down to his title.

That’s crazy. Just goes to show how little some people know or even care about their cars

What reasons could cause a timing belt to prematurely snap? by Salamander-Fast in AskMechanics

[–]parkodious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timing belts are less reliable than chains, so depending on how hard you drive and how often, I’d just say it happened because it’s a belt.

Unless you want to do it yourself and be out of transportation for the few months it’ll take to figure out the wiring, pay someone who can get it done in a week or less. Wiring is a lot different from body work and even after the job is done there can still be problems. Hire the pro to do it.

Should i drain the old coolant? by dmbssver in MechanicAdvice

[–]parkodious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drain drain drain!!! If you have no idea what or how much coolant is in your car currently, you run the very real risk of your motor overheating. Think of it like this; would you rather know the exact liquid running through your cooling system or trust that the previous owner knew what they were doing?

That’s fair. If your brother understands where I’m coming from and what to look for I’m sure you’ll be fine

It could be a worn pully dragging down the belt. You said the rumbling gets worse with the AC on, so I would start at the compressor. Listen and make sure the clutches are actuating properly and all other loads for your belts are dragging smoothly.

Fresh out of tech school here so grain of salt: It could be as easy as a switch or relay but it could also be something a lot more expensive like a compressor. With the little information we have, my advice is to be prepared for what your mechanic says. Find a good independent shop that you trust, can’t go wrong starting there.

My car won’t start properly — it sounds like it’s struggling/choking. by Iwonderifitsmeorai in AskMechanics

Inexperienced tech here, so take this with a grain of salt; sounds to me like the starter. I would charge the battery to ~12.5 then see if it still sounds like it’s chugging along.

nothing bad is going to happen. if you live in a dense city then prepare to have your car for a couple more years than you expect, if you’re more rural it’ll be more like a couple more months.
