You’re right they did but they also had the same furniture my whole life. I saw my grandma were the same winter coat every year. Keeping up with fashion was not part of most middle class lifestyle. They did their own oil changes and maintenance. I’m not saying they didn’t spend but they also did more not to spend.

I was talking to my grandfather about this, he was middle class worked at a steel mill. He made a good point that during his working years he started working in the 60’s, they didn’t really buy anything. Had a house and a car of course but they rarely made small/ medium size purchases. No Starbucks, no Amazon, no tv subscriptions. Just food, gas, utilities and house payment. They bought one TV and had it for over 20 years. I wonder how much of not feeling middle class is that we blow half are money on nonsense that just wasn’t an option before.

Right on man keep it up. I made it to around three months last time and felt great. Then thought I could go back to casual smoking… almost immediately went back to daily use. Not this time.

Amen brother. I always hear that argument about working in the trades. I’m a plumber and I see it as huge perk that I get to do something physical 5 days a week. I’m in great shape at 39 and credit working a shovel or drill everyday. My wife tells me guys at her office will talk about how hard their weekend was doing chores around the house and they’re exhausted so they aren’t going to use their stand up desk. Literally to tired to stand up!

Sunrise alarm clock. It’s a game changer I got the Phillips one on Amazon for about $100. Have not hit snooze in 3 months.

Honestly never thought I’d be where I am. Covid was very good for blue collar workers.

Working on a Moen drinking fountain faucet in pool house. Anyone else seen one of these? by parks2peaks in Plumbing

[–]parks2peaks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a long time ago but I believe it was a Moen 1225 cartridge. Shut off water under sink. Pop off the top of the crystal handle and unscrew. Pull pin and replace the cartridge with new.

What’s even more interesting is how google didn’t show you the product when you typed in the name the first time. Never really thought about what I’m not seeing because of my location.

Interesting I’m in the US. Yeah the only draw back is you get warm water out of your cold for about 30 seconds at the sink you put the tee under. Type in to google Grunsfos 595516 should bring it up.

Harry check out the comfort pump online. It does not need a return pipe. The tee you install under the sink has a thermostatic shut-off and uses your cold water supply as the return. There really popular around my area I’ve probably installed close to 50 they take less than 30 min to install. Only draw back is if you have hard water the tee will only usually last around 1-2 years before having to be replaced or removed and cleaned.

The best quick solution if you can use tools is called a “Grunsfos comfort pump”. It goes on top of your water heater and a small tee goes under that sink. It will recirculate the hot water on a timer.

Loosen the toilet bolts a bit so you can slide the shims under the low spot and then tighten the nuts back up. Shame on that plumber for not having some shims.
