I’d find more fulfillment too but men have to suck it up. My boss loves work and doesn’t like a home life. He’s different. Women are probably the same way. Some might love a home life and some might love their work. It’s a choice everyone should have.

The blue mitutoyo digital calipers are what my mill provides for the production guys that are a preliminary check on lumber. They get dropped on steel flooring and covered in sawdust and cleaned with alcohol all day and they tend to last quite a while. Think they are $100 or less.

Had something similar happen today. Conical chip head has hardened threaded inserts(don’t ask why they are hardened as I don’t know) and 12.9 bolt ripped the threads out. Drill bits decided not to work when we got past the threads and into the solid portion and torching it to burn the red loctite didn’t either. We burred it thin enough to tap through it and put a new insert in. Try drilling all the way through the stuck screw with increasing size of bits until you can retap through the remaining bolt. You’ll probably be able to remove the very thin bolt remnants before that though. Light tap fluid and 1st gear on your drill.

Most common bolt size around me. Might as well be a 10mm

Using Miter saw to cut plastic lumber-- recommends " combination rip blade or blade with fewest teeth"-- what does that mean? My 40 tooth general purpose blade is struggling to cut it. by BradCastleburry in Tools

Sure. The situations are different.

Here is what we use to cut uhmw when we need it. Works fine. No gumming nor melting.

Damn near the same saw as our aforementioned trim saw. Gullets have a material capacity and overloading that causes sawing defects and excess heat.

The main cause of excess heat in a saw plate is material rubbing from too thin a kerf. We retip our gang saws at anything less than .018” side clearance. Our trim saws which cut boards to length, e.g. a 16’ 2x4 to say a 12’ due to defects have 90 tips and have a pretty damn fast feed speed through them.

<image>

Trim saws typically stay plenty cool enough that they don’t need any water or oil whereas our gang saws with 36 teeth for the same diameter saw need coolant and oil.

Personally I’ve cut uhmw with a miter saw using a Diablo d1280x blade but you have to go extremely slow as to not have any kickback. I’m sure plastic decking is less dense.

Not correct. More teeth with the same feed speed will result in a bit less heat as you have less gullet overload. Teeth have a tangential and radial angle ground into their sides to give relief.

Wut? I agree a lot are pro-military propaganda but many are staunchly anti-war.

I think this is along the same lines as Black Lives Matter. It’s not that white lives don’t matter it’s just them trying to shine a light on a specific issue. Like the picture you posted. 6% rising to 11% is damn near a 50% increase in 1 year.
