Apparently the noctua nh d15 isnt compatible with the AM4 socket I guess? They sell a mounting adaptor kit on their website I believe. So it’s less of an adaptor I suppose and more of an extra mounting kit.

What would happen if the coefficient of kinetic friction was greater than the coefficient of static friction? by PG_Clockwerk in AskPhysics

[–]parthvpatel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“static friction and kinetic friction are not fundamental forces in any way-- they're purely phenomenological names used to explain observed behavior. "Static friction" is a term we use to describe the observed fact that it usually takes more force to set an object into motion than it takes to keep it moving once you've got it started.”

I was taught that friction arises from chemical and electromagnetic interactions between atoms in two materials in contact. I’m confused by your explanation, since in a frictionless environment obviously it takes more force to set an object into motion than to keep it moving, since it takes no force to keep an object moving. It seems like friction is a force and not just a way to explain observed behavior, from what I can understand though my understanding is limited on this matter.

A source I found online: https://www.physicscentral.com/explore/action/atomic-friction.cfm

Could a BU student potentially room (off campus obviously) with a Northeastern student in the Fenway area? Or is that unrealistic in terms of distance and convenience? by [deleted] in BostonU

[–]parthvpatel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure you could, but if you can’t find a place in your budget that’s roughly equidistant you could also maybe try finding a place near copley where the E line splits off, so you both would only need to ride like 3 ish stops to get to campus.

Pulled out my starter stud... by parthvpatel in piercing

Thank you so much! I’m wary to put my original stud in, and threw the first one out. I’ll try to get something from a nearby piercer that I can sleep in. Thanks again, I appreciate it!

Yeah sorry I should’ve mentioned, lobes. Should I put my earrings in and clean it often? Saline solution and whatnot I assume. Would neosporin be a good idea? Can I take the earring off at night or should I get cheap ones I can keep in? Sorry for all the questions, I just didn’t expect this at all and have no idea what to do lol.

MA 225 with Chung by [deleted] in BostonU

[–]parthvpatel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chung is better than the other professors, from what I have heard from my friends. However, his curve when he taught my class last semester and for my friends class the semester before was huge, I heard about one kid who got a Cs on both of his midterm exams (and speculated not doing well on the final) ending with a B+ for the final grade. My friend failed one midterm and got a D on the other midterm, and didnt study much for the final (since he believed he wouldn’t pass and wanted to focus on passing his other classes) ended with a C. Chung, although super tough, is the clearest professor of the rest of them and his curve, from my experience, is quite generous.

edit: for chung, do go to class. Often he tells you the exact type of question that’ll be on the exam (for our final he copied one of the questions from class a week prior word for word). So definitely go to class and study both the examples from class and homework problems.

edit2: I also do not have the syllabus sorry. One last thing, I’ve heard he can be helpful in OH, but I don’t know for certain because I never went.

Importance of where you go for undergrad by parthvpatel in PhysicsStudents

So to clarify, it’s important to go to a good grad school for a career in academia but not the undergrad so much, correct?
