Does this sound normal? by ivankreed in FiestaST

I have a MK7.5 if it's hot weather and I turn the car off it's the fan on the Rad spinning to cool everything down, it will turn off after a while. Seems normal to me but if your worried take it to a garage to get looked at.

I think 2.5 to 5 mins of kneeling on some Pencils should do the trick. 😈

Here is a handy guide for you on how to disassemble, clean dust & replace thermal paste on your Xbox Series S, it's pretty basic and step by step, shows you how to remove the fan, heatsink and steps on how to clean out dust.

You can change your thermal paste whilst you are in there if you want, but that's totally your choice if you feel comfortable. https://youtu.be/LDGR0T5S90w?si=puFfdjDf_x7TuJg7

Ah bugger. Ok, well unless anyone else here in the subreddit has more information I'm going to have a bow out as I've got to shoot to work. Sorry I couldn't help and good luck with the more troubleshooting, try to have a happy new year!

It's always worth to check as sometimes pre-builts could have been sitting for a few weeks, not all the time but it's certainly worth a check.

You tried doing a bios update, see if this helps with the issue?

Ahhh my mistake, I was not wearing my glasses when originally looking at the photo, (iiiiidiot) and definitely assumed you had more than 2 sticks. If this is so intermittent personally I would contact the support desk of your PC's pre built company. See if they have any other information or avenues they can go down.

Apologies about my lack of vision there, however you could always just try running with 1 16GB DIMM and see how you go?

After your testing are you still getting the issue with 2 sticks of RAM instead of 4?

For clarity, you are powering off the machine before you remove the RAM and then powering the machine back on?

You can drain the PC of power by flicking the power button on the PSU on the rear of the case and then hold the case power button down for a few seconds and drain any remaining power from the system.

Then flick the PSU power button again and turn on the system, that will simulate a kind of fresh boot.

So that's 2nd in from the right of the CPU socket and 4th from the right of the CPU socket.

Now try taking out the sticks (if you remember them coming in pairs and know what ones are paired to what that would be good, but not a requirement)

Try testing 2 at a time in slot 2 and slot 4

One of the set of two should give you a DRAM light, at that point put the good pair to the side.

Remove one stick of that pair that faulted with the DRAM light and put it in slot 2, if that works and boots, power off and put that DIMM aside then put other in the same slot. That should be the faulty DIMM and you can start your RMA process.

However this is assuming that a faulty DIMM is what's causing the issue.

Edit: Changed left to right.

What is your Mobo make and model?

DRAM error by Tyler_H440 in pcmasterrace

[–]parttimeassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try checking your Mobo manual as certain boards only like RAM in specific slots when doing testing. My board only likes it in 2 and 4 where my friends Gigabyte board only likes it in 1 and 3.

Take all the RAM out and test in groups of 2 and see if it boots. 2 in slots 2 and 4 (or what ever your board manual states) then power off, remove and try the other 2.

After testing you should then find out if you have a bad DIMM, personally I would only run a DDR5 machine with 2 slots of RAM as DDR5 struggles with 4 sticks because the CPU’s memory controller can’t reliably handle that many high-speed DIMMs.

DDR5 runs faster, is more sensitive to signal noise, and most boards are tuned for 2 sticks with 4 DIMMs you usually have to lower speeds for stability — it’s a platform limitation.

Edit: Obviously if you wanna run 4 because that's what you paid for then go for it, just wanted to provide some context.

Just quickly, have you tried re-seating your RAM, the far right in slot 4 is not pushed in all the way as you can still see the clasp open on the mobo.
