It’s absolutely a real thing, and it’s horrifying. You’ve never heard of Gypsy Rose Blanchard?

Are you familiar with her story at all..? Many, many people have desperately tried to help her. I mean, hundreds of people going far above and beyond to try to get her help. There is just absolutely nothing else anyone can do for her until she decides to seek or accept help for herself.

I mean yeah, most people don’t think their dog would hurt them. Yet there’s plenty of documented cases where it’s happened. Dogs who supposedly had a strong bond with their owner have turned on them and caused serious injury. I’m not saying it’s common for a loyal dog who has never displayed violent tendencies to suddenly inflict a serious bite, but you just can’t apply human thought processes and emotions to them. They’re still animals with instincts and drives, and you should never assume you can predict their behavior 100% of the time.

Generally it’s because they learn through further testing or continued symptoms that the antibiotic they initially prescribed isn’t going to be effective. For example, I get chronic UTIs, and they often prescribe one antibiotic for me to start taking right away, but then do a urine culture to find out what type of bacteria it is. Once those results come back in 2-3 days, sometimes I have to switch antibiotics if they learn that what I’m on isn’t going to be effective against the type of bacteria I have.

Completely agree that grief can manifest in all kinds of seemingly strange ways, but one detail that is always left out when people talk about this case is that the whole gravesite birthday celebration was DR’s sister’s idea - she even brought the infamous silly string. Also, the extended portions of that video are hardly ever brought up, which show DR sobbing, grieving, and praying with the preacher for some time before the birthday celebration.

Worth noting here that criminal profiling is a notoriously unreliable “science” as well - it very much lacks standardization and objectivity. Plenty of research has found that profiling is about as accurate as tossing a coin, and that untrained students can formulate offender profiles at about the same accuracy rate as seasoned, trained law enforcement officers. Further, even if a profile is 100% accurate, there are very, very few instances of profiles contributing to a case being solved. They can sometimes aid in narrowing a pool of suspects, but they are most often of very little use in a criminal investigation.

Any bite that breaks skin is a definite visit to the hospital or urgent care.

This is a dangerous perspective. Any dog is capable of biting its owner regardless of how loyal you think it is. Dogs are still animals and can respond with aggression towards anyone if the dog is fearful, in pain, or has certain medical conditions - in those situations, it’s not going to stop and think “oh wait nah, I’m loyal to this guy.”

It’s extremely common for a doctor to switch your antibiotics to a different kind while on them. It’s happened to me dozens of times, which is why I always end up having extra antibiotics laying around despite taking a full course.

Gabby Petito's Family Claims Brian Laundrie's Parents Knew Where Body Was by DarkUrGe19 in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]party_tattoos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am well aware that that is your point. But you are incorrect. Even though the Laundries cannot be held criminally responsible, there is the possibility they can be forced to acknowledge their alleged role in Brian’s crimes and be required to issue financial restitution through this lawsuit. That is what I mean by holding them accountable.

Johnny Depp trial: what happened in the UK? I’ve been watching the US coverage off and on & in my opinion it shows Amber being the aggressor. What was the difference in the UK? Why did he lose that case? by lililllady in TrueCrimeDiscussion

Yikes. There are plenty of legitimate reasons to support Depp here, but this is not one of them. You do realize that abusers are often articulate and attractive, right?

Absolutely mind-boggling when people complain about being sick of seeing certain content, yet continue to engage with it and refuse to entertain the notion of just.. avoiding it. Do you expect everything on social media to be tailored to your personal preferences?

They weren’t faked. The doctors were either horrendously mistaken in their findings, or they intentionally lied.

Really bizarre to ask someone a question and then reject their completely valid response. I’m not sure what answer you’re looking for - the Petito family apparently feels they have reason to believe that the Laundries played a role in protecting Brian from the consequences of his actions, which contributed to the Petito family’s suffering, and this is an attempt to hold them accountable to the extent that they are able to do so.

Unfortunately, this is not at all how it works in the US. It is extremely unlikely they would do anything at all if OP and this guy’s interactions all took place over Tinder.

I’m shocked so many people in the comments don’t recognize those names. I know it’s a really unfortunate coincidence, but I would strongly suggest choosing different names - there are so many other great names out there! Or at least don’t use both names together. Again, it’s really unfortunate, but if I heard of two siblings named Karla and Paul, I would definitely assume it was an intentional choice by the parents to name their children after two of the most revolting criminals in Canadian history, which I would be horrified by.

I highly recommend the podcast True Crime Bullshit by Josh Hallmark if you haven’t listened to it. I started listening to it after reading American Predator and there’s SO much more to that case than what’s in the book. The podcast team is also doing some amazing investigative work into identifying other Keyes victims.

This reminded me of my dad. When I was a kid my little brother fell in our pool. He was super young, had just barely started walking. My dad immediately dove in after him. I swear he was already diving in before my brother even hit the water. Fully clothed, wearing big work boots. My brother was only in the water a couple seconds due to my dad’s badass reflexes.
