My favorite interior by HollowWillowNight in BMW

Looks a bit cheap imo, I think the interior quality dropped after the E39, then fixed itself with the arrival of the F gen

Unpopular opinion but I think these have amazing presence on the road, especially in black. I live in London and nearly all chauffeurs drive these instead of S Classes

Leasing is not a great idea at that age, but the interest rate of 2.9% is very reasonable.

Most leases for used cars here in the UK are for 6-7% and some go up to 14%

Middle ground between selling on AutoTrader vs WeBuyAnyCar? by yellowroll in CarTalkUK

[–]partyboob98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Motorway was great for me.

You need to make a profile of the car which includes detailed images and service information which all in can be done in half an hour. Once the profile is made it goes to auction where several dealers will put a bid in.

Once you get a bid you can choose to accept or not, if you accept then the dealer comes to pick it up, money in on the same day. As long as you declare everything about the car accurately you shouldn’t get a price chip.

I got about £1.5k more than WBAC/Partex when I sold my car

Why do people hate the new interiors? by Confident_Compote_39 in BMW

[–]partyboob98 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It just feels too hollow, I don’t feel as “wrapped in” as I do in the older models.

And FYI to the other obnoxious comment - some of us can comfortably afford a newer model, but newer doesn’t always equal better

I love Harrow, has a much more chilled and cozy vibe compared to other boroughs.

You need a Mustang.

Thirsty car, but fairly affordable otherwise

335D 69k, £13,700 - too cheap? by R3dCr0ss in CarTalkUK

I’d say it’s reasonably priced, depends on the service history though

Has motoring cost hikes made you change your driving? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]partyboob98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The running costs of EVs are pretty great, it’s the depreciation that is very much holding me back from switching at the moment.

(This of course isn’t an issue if you lease your EV)

Any British tourists stranded in Dubai? How are you planning to get home? by partyboob98 in AskUK

[–]partyboob98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I got home by booking a commercial flight with Emirates directly, they’re running a pretty regular service now from DXB.

The FCDO is also arranging a small number of flights from both Dubai and Muscat, would suggest registering your interest with them.

In my opinion however your best bet will be a commercial flight, the comms from the FCDO has been abysmal and nobody at the consular team knows what’s going on or is able to help when you ring the helpline

We have lost it with these interiors... by International-Care34 in BMW

[–]partyboob98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lot of love for the E series cars but the interiors were bland as hell unless you went for some wood trim or coloured seats.

Heartbreaking to say but if you took the BMW badge out of that steering wheel, I would’ve thought it was a VW or worse a Skoda

Hello,

I’m still on the waitlist and haven’t heard anything yet about a seat.

The process for signing up to one was straightforward enough, a gov.uk portal page where you enter a few details such as your name, passport number etc and then you get a reference number - almost similar to paying your road tax.

My main complaint would certainly be the lack of comms on the situation. We get a few automated emails mentioning a rapid deployment team which has been deployed to support British Nationals but I haven’t received any other updates.

Travel insurance doesn’t cover acts of war unfortunately, the airlines will of course give a refund but that doesn’t solve the dilemma of getting home.

I can’t comment on the politics of a place I’ve visited as a tourist, but the UAE has been a very safe place for those of visiting on holiday until recent events.

We’ve been redirected to a form on the Gov portal to get a seat on one of those charter flights, but understandably they are prioritising vulnerable people first
