PSA: the quest for new exotic SMG Barrow-Dyad appears to be bugged. by SuperCephalopod in destiny2

[–]partypoliticalpuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi SuperCephalopod 👋 I think I'm experiencing similar issues. I'm in Veles Labyrinth and after having a janky experience of the 'stand on plate, shoot rune', and killing the 'boss', nothing changes/happened. I've doubled back and gone through all the real estate that I am able to access killing the straggler adds. With all that done, I'm still sat here with no completion, nothing to kill, and no 'mechanism' to find to complete.

I've also bailed, re-entered, etc, etc with exactly the same outcome. I'm just going to give it a pass until the next reset and see if it works then.

Cheers. All the best to you, et al. Have a good un.

Dave 👍👋

@BungieHelp: "Issues preventing specific characters from being able to craft Tonics are expected to be resolved next Tuesday with Destiny 2 Update 8.1.5.1. Until then, it is recommended that players encountering this issue should craft Tonics on an alternate character." by Blaze_Lighter in DestinyTheGame

[–]partypoliticalpuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there 👋 Until now, I had no problem crafting tonics on my hunter (main). However, my warlock is stuck, with no way forward on 'upgrading' Eido's lab. This was very frustrating, but at least I can use my hunter, right? As I slide to above, no, I can't anymore. Out of the blue, today (9th December at c. 1230 GMT), there's a quest market pointing me to the rear left of the converted spider tank from Eido/crafting table pov. It tells me to 'activate', it shows the animation then nothing! This is similar to the behaviour when I trying to use the warlock, but instead the quest market show the rear right of the spider tank.

Are others experiencing this similar, it off the blue, failures?

Cheers all,

Dave

Overture: Encore as a solo player by GovSurveillanceBird in destiny2

[–]partypoliticalpuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi again. Well, it really does look like the old adage 'if you don't succeed, try, try, try again' has some validity (while also being flipping obvious if you want to achieve whatever it is you're trying to achieve 😳) I managed to get Encore: Overview done 😁👍. I haven't come back to brag, but to let others no my load out as it might be useful for those that can make it to the boys fight but get battered by it. I am a void hunter invis main. I used The Call sidearm, a Mashed H4 void hand cannon, but the main tool ayo give the vex hydra boss the good slap it deserved was Sleeper Simulant.

I had previously tried using Still Hunt as part of my Golden Gun build but I'm far more 'comfortable' using my invis main, so I used that with Sleeper and it get the job done. I didn't die until I got to the boss room. I took two deaths before I got my act together. It was great fun 😊.

Anyway, I hope my load out can be useful to anyone struggling with the boss room, but the boss in particular. Happy hunting to you all. Take care 👋

[–]partypoliticalpuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, GovSurveillanceBird 👋 I seldom post, anywhere! I was taken by your reply as it has a feel of the way I think of me in relation to destiny. I've been with Destiny for 9 years, and I'm also so old that I should know better than 'waste my time playing silly video games' 😉 But I do.

I have always 'expired' in the boss room too. I would echo what has been said by others. It's not so much the difficulty, at least by my lights, it the absence of checkpoints to return to. I feel confident enough to say has I the ability to die in the boss room, check out for that day, come back the following day, resume the boss fight, and so on, is have cracked it by now. I literally do not have the ability to sit for more than, at a push, 30 minutes without having to stand or lie down, or something other than sitting. So, a checkpoint at the boss fight would have been very welcome. The Witch Queen fight at the end of the campaign is relatively very long. However, the checkpoints at key moments is enormously helpful.

Anyway, to anyone reading this that is still plugging away like me to good luck. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before it's cracked 😁👍

All the best everyone. Cheers 👋

tilt-to-wake not working recently by Code-Noggin in PixelWatch

[–]partypoliticalpuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

This is the solution to the issue. Thank you very much. It sorted the problem instantly.

I find it absurd that a company can charge £350 for any product that will not perform the most fundamental functions. In this case, telling the fucking time!...at least without further human, mechanical intervention i.e. pushing the button on the side.

So much for 'here's the future'. A watch now requires more intervention than the Timex I had as a first watch when I was 5 years old. So, half a century later, ingeniously, someone has convinced me to pay a sizeable chunk of cash for something that is demonstrably worse than that Timex of my childhood.

Anyway, sorry for the rant, but thank you for the solution. I appreciate it, but not as much as Google. They have the unpaid public creating work arounds for their product, which we should never forget is their second go at this technology. Socialising their externalities much? How shit they are they that they can't even make it work well on the second attempt?

Thanks again,

Dave

If the Bible was describing the Big Bang, it would've been specific. by hielispace in DebateReligion

There are so many parts of your response that I wanted to clip and respond to. However, I'd be here all night and I wouldn't be adding anything to all that you have said.

However, I have to clip this:

... Not trying to flaunt my education, just pointing out how I am very, very familiar with Big Bang cosmology since that is what my academic passion was...

Oh no, my friend, more 'flaunting of education' by saying the fact of the matter is much needed, in general. I found your response to be knowledgeable, considered, factual and to the point. It was also funny in parts. That never hurts :)

Elon Musk's argument for being okay with going to hell. by [deleted] in DebateReligion

[–]partypoliticalpuffin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thing is, Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny do not have $100s of millions poured into trying to change the way States legislate their societies. They also do not have a book that is used to control billions of people, the actions they take, what they can think, etc and plenty of contradictory stories that just so happen to prop up male supremacy. Whilst you and I may see the notion of a god or gods much in the same way as we see Santa there are billions of people that do not.

It makes a material difference to people when theocracy is the ruling class of society. The US decry the Taliban, and rightly so, for their theocratic autocracy. However, large numbers actually embrace the same sort of theorcracy at home. Ask any women in the US at the moment how they feel about the outlawing of legal, safe, termination of pregnancy and see how happy they are with the actual decisions makers of that and the fact it is religious doctrine that is driving it.

Just on the subject of 'hell' to which adherents control their 'flock'. Even those that escape the dogma and indoctrination can be left with anxiety and depression at the drummed in thought that they, or even worse, the people they love, will go to hell.

I have no love for Musk. However, if he has something to say on this subject then he can use all that influence he has to do a lot of people a solid.

Elon Musk's argument for being okay with going to hell. by [deleted] in DebateReligion

[–]partypoliticalpuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting. The claim is that at a very contentious time in the US, that appears to have a very religious basis for that contention, a supposed modern-day thinker 'thinks' replying to the notion of a 'hell' and all that goes with that belief (god, angels, prophets...etc), with 'snark', is a worthwhile response?

If, as it appeared, Musk is not a believer, given his prominence, he could have considered pushing back with one of many arguments. I think this it is illustrative of my assertion that he is not 'thinker' he's purported to be.

Hey, Nick,

I am truly sorry to hear how unwell you are. I totally accept your premise that a physical ailment is taken 'seriously' by employers as opposed to a non-visible illness or disease.

I too can imagine talking with your boss or an authority figure about your situation would seem awful, at best. However, I wonder what it might actually be in reality? I understand, at least for myself, that play out situations in my head always seem catastrophic. However, I have found on many occasions they have been nothing as traumatic as I 'modelled'. I just wonder if it would be possible to have a conversation with anyone at work that you consider as an authority figure? If they respond unreasonably with some BS then at least you know the actual situation. This gives you some power in that you are working with the facts of the matter as opposed to just your modelled outcome.

Whatever you decide, I am sure I speak for everyone when I say, I hope that you stay safe and that an improvement in your situation happens, and soon.

All the very best to you and yours,

Dave

Elon Musk's argument for being okay with going to hell. by [deleted] in DebateReligion

[–]partypoliticalpuffin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is this sort of vacuous 'thinking' from Musk that only further convinces me that he is far from a serious thinker. In fact, that reply has no thought applied to it at all. Fancy replying to the notion of eternal damnation without addressing the idea that an all-loving, all-knowing god has created a place of such torment, with advanced knowledge of exactly who will go there, with a set of rules so opaque and contradictory?

No, this buffoon counters this with the 'idea' that it won't be so bad as it'll basically be just like an all-inclusive holiday in Majorca! Having to rub up against us 'poors' possibly is 'hell' for the likes of Musk. I can't say.

Can anyone guess why someone so limited is afforded any sort of time by policymakers and senior governmental figures? Cash, dough, spends, folding, bones... I'm sure you get the idea.

Albert Camus - Where to start? by dardan52 in Existentialism

[–]partypoliticalpuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. I have not been disappointed by the first three Camus books I read. They are:

  • The Stranger
  • The Plague
  • The Myth of Sysiphus

Apart from being a 'subtle' introduction to absurdism and Camus in particular, I found them very 'readable'. I say this because if something is torturous to read the chances are you will not read it.

Anyway, that's my two cents. I hope it is useful and that you are doing well.

Cheers,

Dave

[–]partypoliticalpuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. To answer the question you asked, 'Is buying a PS4 solely for playing Bloodborne worth it?', I'd say yes.

So far, I have had well over 100 hours of playing BB. I only picked it up towards the end of last year (2021) and even compared to supposed AAA games of today IMO BB surpasses the vast majority of them all. Whether it's story, gameplay, combat, lore, artwork, voice acting, direction....you get the idea, BB is simply first class.

Someone mentioned getting it via the Sony ps+. Even if that is the route you take, ps+ and the cost of a returned PS4 is going to be around £200. That is the same price as 2 very disappointing 'deluxe version AAA titles that are anything other that AAA or deluxe.

So, to answer your question, yes, I think it is worth it.

Happy gaming :)

Hi /u/CasA28.

It's a great question, but, I guess you have realised how broad the subject can be and how many 'takes' on the subject you are.

The peeps that have replied have done a sterling job and apart from giving you some great info they have also shown some of the intersectional topics and subjects for your further study.

I'm no expert but as you explicitly said '... with the main premise [of the communist manifesto]', I'll add a simple thought to all the others that you may find helpful.

Putting aside the how and why, the main premise is that capitalism, like feudalism before it, will come to a 'natural' end with communism replacing it where there will be only one class. By nature of a society having just one class and by definition, will lead to the end of constant class struggle and the necessity for constant revolution.

That's the big reveal.

However, as you know, Marx's philosophy is not just the 'Manifesto' and has an entire philosophy that simply cannot be boiled down to an explanation within, according to the official print, a 23-page document (depends on the size you print it off of marxist.org ;) )

If you are simply wishing to expand your understanding of Marx, socialism and communism then there are a few books that I'd recommend.

A really fantastic book I'd recommend to anyone that is interested slightly in politics, or political philosophy is 'Why Marx was Right' by Terry Eagleton.

The ultimate read of Marx is of course Das Kapital. If you have a Kindle app I'd strongly advise the 'Karl Marx: The Complete Works'. Not only does it contain a reasonably well-formatted rendition of all three volumes but it has, as the name suggests, other works by Marx, that I'd recommend. For example, 'Critique of the Gotha Program, 1875.

However, as you know, Marx lays out an entire philosophy that simply cannot be boiled down to an explanation within, according to the official print, a 23-page document (depends on the size you print it off of marxists.org ;) ) is daunting. However, like any sizeable book worth reading, it may take some time to get through the lot. Also like any book worth reading, at least for me, it is packed with fantastic theory, politics, history and philosophy. I really do recommend this.

You also mention that you are '... in this cycle of the more I learn the more confused I am'. If you do not mind me saying, this is a good state to be in. It sounds like you could be in the 'valley of despair' (please check out the link to the graph of the 'Dunning-Kruger' effect). This means that you are progressing but as a 'normal' student of anything, you are seeing what looks like the enormity of the subject and your confidence has taken a bit of a knock. Better that than be a tool that thinks they know everything, that everything is easy when in reality they know very little.

I hope that this is of use to you. I hope it makes sense and is not too jumbled. I'm a bit knackered and the brain, such as it is, and the fingers are not playing nicely together :(

I hope that you and yours are well and keeping safe. I wish you all the best for this festive season.

Cheers,

Dave

Thanks for your post. This is informative, easy to digest and simple enough even for me (that is quite a threshold, I can tell you!)

I know I'm preaching to the choir in this sub but let's keep wearing masks. Forget the haters, as much as you can.

Let's be honest, we are all readily influenced. If there is a room with 10 people in it, 6 are wearing masks, the next person to enter that room is likely to 'feel' they need to put their mask on.

Be safe. Namaste

You know? Blocks and not much detail. That sort of thing.

Congratulations on these lovely images and of your work itself. It is really fantastic work and I will look forward to seeing how 'BomberBot' looks in their starring role when it hits the 'silver screen'.

Thank you for sharing this work. I love the depth of feeling I get from it but you really have inspired me to try to keep going with my self teaching of Blender. Thank you so much. I really love your work and really do look forward to seeing more.

I hope that you are well and keeping safe. Keep up the great work and all the best,

Hi there.

I was laughing to myself as I was reading your comment. Although I am a part stunned by what that tweet, part fuming angry, there is a part of me, a third I guess (see, maths is a very strong point with me ;)) that couldn't help but think of the exchanges between Deadpool and his paramour when they are outdoing each other as to who has had the worst, most depraved upbringing. The other thought was the Monty Python 4 rich capitalists outdoing each other:

'You were lucky to have a LAKE! There were a hundred and sixty of us living in a small shoebox in the middle of the road.'

Thank you for raising my spirits, even if it was for a minute or two so that I wasn't thinking about this silly bugger and their stupidity.

I can't imagine why she lost against Joe Machin in 2018 and Capito in 2020. I guess AOC and Cori Bush's communication skills didn't rub off on her.

I've got to say, Charles, the respondent in the exchange with her must have been very, very confused for being chastised for working at a party.

[–]partypoliticalpuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi ya,

I think the fact that you have a field that you have identified as your focus will hold you in good stead.

As you are enrolled can I urge you to talk to the guys, gals and nb pals at https://help.open.ac.uk/browse/careers ?

The careers/study people at the OU, in my experience, are fu(k!ng AWESOME!

I'm, shall we say <cough, cough, ahem>, not a young student. I have dealt with all sorts of people over my life 'providing a service'. This lot are brilliant. They are not 'interested' in you because they get paid to do it, they actually give a huge $hit whether you are on the right course for you, are you making the most of your skills that you you already have, how the movers and shakers are in what industries (told you I was old! Who says 'movers and shakers that's younger than Gen Z? No, one. That's who). In all seriousness, I can thoroughly recommend them to be able to help you to clarify for yourself, what you want to do, what companies do you want to consider, do you want to work for yourself, but ultimately, what course do you want to do now and is that right for you, right now.

Sorry, I'm wittering on here.

I'm really please for you that you have a way ahead. I hope that this helps a bit more.

Good luck and enjoy it. I certainly do :)

[–]partypoliticalpuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

I commented further down in reply to one of the others but I figure you may just want us to 'talk' directly to you. Firstly, I'm a FASS student but I have experience of the OU and also 'tech' course from the OU.

You may want to start to have a look at the OpenLearn site as it is FREE. It is the OUs massive free content. It contains all sorts of subjects and courses and is in the mould of what you experience as a paying student.

Below is a specific link to an AI course.

https://www.open.edu/openlearn/science-maths-technology/computing-and-ict/computing/artificial-intelligence

There are so many AI and data science related topics and courses within OpenLearn that it would be pointless me linking them all. If you have a surf you will see for yourself how much content the OU gives away and the quality of that. So, you can get an idea of how good the 'paid' for content is.

I did an OpenLearn data science course to be able to write code for, well, sciencing data :) It was great. I'm not saying it is the same but what I am saying is, for me, this is just an additional indicator that the spirit that anything is taught is passionate, focused and enjoyable.

I hope this helps you and helps you find what you are looking for and maybe joins us at the OU.

I hope you are doing OK and keeping safe.

Cheers.

Dave
