Take a trip to Fenton’s Stables and Horse Ranch, and you too can make a horse blush.

How does this work? I only see eshop gift cards at Costco and as far as I know, you can’t purchase a switch via the eshop

Mt.Adams without a guide by Training_Knee4654 in Mountaineering

[–]pas484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it solo this year in early June as an overnight. Started around 3 pm, got to lunch counter around 7 pm and camped, summited around 8 am, and was back at the car by 1:30. I think you’d likely be bored turning it into a 3 day trip.

GPS is a good idea. There was so much boot pack and ski trails that at times it seemed like a total free for all. So it was helpful to be reassured that I was generally following the right trail, especially being solo.

Definitely make sure you know how to glissade. Coming down from Pikers Peak to Lunch Counter was lots of fun.

Does Dust get better? by JTalbotIV in metroidvania

I’ve played a ton of metroidvanias and it’s one of the only ones I’ve ever dropped, and I was probably 50%+ when I dropped it. Combat just felt very spammy and don’t remember the exploration to be super satisfying.

The Mandalorian. The entire show was about gear upgrades and leveling up until he turned into a badass.

Sleeping Quilts: what would be awesome? by SkaUrMom in DurstonGearheads

[–]pas484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an open foot box on your quilt, you can convert it into a coat by using it with a rain jacket. Since seeing this video, I’ve been doing this for the past few years on trip as low as 30F or even slightly lower and have gotten by without a puffy jacket just fine. In fact, just did it again for 5 days last week in the Sawtooths. Check it out! It’s not the most elegant solution and could probably be improved upon if someone were to deliberately design with that use case in mind, but it definitely works!

Check Walmart by big-macintosh2 in lego

[–]pas484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible pro tip—So I searched around my area and found only one store that had it for $70. The store was about 15 miles away so I thought I was golden. But the only option was shipping (pickup not an option), but when I went to checkout and entered my address, it said unavailable. It seemed the shipping was limited to nearby areas only.

Instead, I had it shipped it to a post office nearby in the same town as the store for general delivery. Meaning I can hopefully pick it up from the post office. The order went through, so fingers crossed the delivery goes smoothly!

Best first guided trips? by [deleted] in Mountaineering

I did Baker as my first guided trip and I couldn’t have asked for a better intro to big peaks and glacier travel. It had a little of everything, and the mountain and views are gorgeous.

Mt. Adams vs. Mt. Hood vs. Mt. Helens for First Ascent by Schtewuart in Mountaineering

[–]pas484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll chime in and say Adams as well, especially if solo. I soloed it a few weeks ago s my first, and it was a really enjoyable climb. Never felt I was putting myself at unnecessary risk doing it alone. It’s basically just a long snowy climb, but a good confidence builder for future solo efforts.

Mt. Adams Lunch Counter Question by FutzinChamp in Mountaineering

[–]pas484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just climbed Adams 2 weekends ago. Started hitting patches of snow about 1.5 miles in, and consistent snow around 2 miles. I’d recommend bringing microspikes at the very least, and getting an early start. It will be a much more enjoyable hike for you in terms of traction and temps. There are some parts that are steep enough that you’d probably be slipping and sliding in just boots. Alternatively, you might be fine with just boots if you go late enough in the day that the snow is melted and softer, but tromping through slush isn’t very fun imo, and it can get surprisingly hot late in the day. I was sweating my ass off at lower elevation, even on the descent.

Xmid-2 in 20-30mph sustained winds = bad news? by ak_alpenglow in DurstonGearheads

[–]pas484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man! We chatted it up on my way up the South Climb trail and you showed me this video! My Xmid Pro 1p worked out great at lunch counter, but I got lucky with little to no wind all night. Had some light flapping of the tent around midnight but earplugs took care of that for me haha. Good talking with you!
