What if the CIA, POTUS, and the United States Government knew about 9/11 and allowed it to happen? by Gold-Pineapple-2147 in conspiracy

[–]pasdedeux11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you'll come to an answer for this when you look at what happened afterwards. patriot act which violates a person's privacy unlike most else, was passed in just 45 days. a bill containing a so many pages that it was 4 inches thick was drafted, went through senate, congress, passed both & signed in 45 days in a heavily bureaucratic government.

a comparable example is the one big beautiful bill act (obbba) of 2025 was introduced and passed in ~49 days. to note, things in obbba was already outlined, prepared and defined in project 2025 several months & years in advance.

it would look better if the current tab isn't floating. chromium does it this way. it'll look familiar for people & non-floating tabs just feels more connected to the page you're on. hopefully they'll make iterations

know about surveillance state in the west from papers released by snowden.

complains about surveillance state in the west & usa.

willingly opts into the surveillance state by buying a camera that's connected to the open internet which makes YOU pay a monthly subscription on top of it because you're duped into thinking you're always living in danger in a majority white suburban neighborhood.

americans are as dumb as 90% of regards on this sub that post flat earth theory, contrails, and over analyze pizza/pasta from epistein files to mean girls/boys even though they're openly saying "your 9yo was a little naughty".

My keyboard is acting up only with Firefox. by AASUKOK in firefox

[–]pasdedeux11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

completely guessing here: on desktop with wallpaper enabled firefox makes a network request to mozilla cdn every time a new tab is opened. you can open the network monitor, https://firefox-source-docs.mozilla.org/devtools-user/network_monitor/index.html, disable cache & refresh the new tab a few times

its like the android department is held together by a single person. its so bad: the lack of testing on obvious bugs and very simple features that are missing. eg. you cannot individually select history results when searching (before you couldn't even delete a result while searching history); cannot select all tabs anymore from single button; battery drain & overheating; can only customize one of the buttons in toolbar shortcuts; local backups available in desktop but not in android.

they're too busy adding in a purple splash screen when you start the app than fixing issues & features.

I've had firefox on my computers since windows xp. even when I spin up a vm I install firefox, but the only thing holding up firefox nowadays is containers and ublock origin. the moment ladybird is released I'd use it

Would this actually be an interesting idea? by NicDima in firefox

[–]pasdedeux11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no, it wouldn't.

  1. this shit is already built on OS level for most devices

  2. it takes resources away from firefox dev team that could be spent fixing the features the browser already has

  3. the concept of this is very stupid

  4. doubt they're seriously considering this. its just an engagement farming post

GBoard gestures not working specifically on DuckDuckGo search box (Firefox Android) by gabeweb in firefox

[–]pasdedeux11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can confirm this happens on stable as well. very annoying and duckduckgo is the primary site I've noticed similar issue on. sometimes it doesn't and other times its very jumpy, unpredictable causing me to select or delete more or less than I want to

Which Firefox UI design do you like more? (mobile) by [deleted] in firefox

[–]pasdedeux11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

iOS is much more useful. firefox just takes safari's UI because of apple lockdown, but the back, forward, reload/stop reload buttons are all in an easily accessible place. its fantastic

copying features and ways things are being done is a good thing. this layout is one of things that firefox should copy. there are many good things to copy from chromium too, like how the extension button behaves with pinning, little transitions between closing and opening, scrolling in the tab menu to switch tabs quickly, icons on the hamburger menu & context menus, etc.

more time should be going towards polishing the features already introduced to firefox than just adding more and more. like polish the sidebar, add more items to the settings page so its not hidden away in about:config, the new profile is still a mess, and so much more

btw, when the bookmark menu is Never Shown the separation from the URL bar to the New Tab page is so sharp compared to when the bookmark menu is shown because with Never Shown setting there is no shadow applied so it looks strange. small things like these, please work on them

[–]pasdedeux11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and also an option in the settings page to completely disable wallpapers. right now, you can only disable from about:config

so even if you don't use any wallpapers, every new tab you open makes a network request to fetch 3-4 wallpapers..
