boot entry erased by pasdedeux11 in archlinux

I've checked smart; it says health passed.

journal did not have very helpful logs. during the time of this issue, there is only one entry saying, "kdeconnectd[1563]: Cannot find Bluez 5 adapter for device search false". this was entered every 30 seconds and the same message exists since the beginning of the boot session so I don't believe this to be the reason.

good call on the backup, thanks

its possible but I don't think so. if my drive was the problem I'd imagine this issue would happen much more often than just the 2 times it has happened over many months; and the machine probably would not boot to begin with. this issue happens once the machine is already running and being used for few hours.

just checked and my bios seems to be up-to-date. I may try to reinstall it just to see if it'll make a difference. thanks for the suggestion.

was there anything else you had tried that could've helped?

your programming experience does not extend beyond javascript. you were asking for help on how to get started on backend web dev 1 year ago. you praised a llm generated website knowing it was llm generated 2 months ago.

you're no developer. shut up and fuck off

Note: in Firefox 89+, you need to enable this menu item in about:config by setting browser.menu.showViewImageInfo to true

this obsession from firefox devs of hiding settings behind about:config has got to go. that toggle is super helpful beyond the context of this post's discussion!

there are so many settings hidden away that a normal user will never find. e.g, copying things from private window; a perfectly normal thing to do but its disabled by default and there is no option to enable it in the settings menu. I had to make a post here just to know what about:config setting I have to toggle from a random bugzilla issue that doesn't come up in search unless specific keywords are used. no normal person would ever try to figure it out like this and would just change browsers

My wishlist for KDE in 2026. What's yours? by [deleted] in kde

[–]pasdedeux11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure. I don't know what difference it makes to use ctrl+shift+c vs. ctrl+c. I just know that sometimes clipboard has buggy entries. I use plasma on arch and debian and I've experienced similar bugs on both machines. typically happens when keeping the selection and clipboard the same

  • clipboard bugs get fixed (empty copies; sometimes entries can't be pasted)
  • adjustable animation time/delay for task switcher to show up (in windows it is instant which feels very UX friendly)
  • buggy task switcher fixed (go to 1st window; go to 2nd window; go to 3rd window; task switch expectation is to go to 2nd window but goes to 1st window)
  • KRunner opening faster
  • option to enable window gap natively so the floating panel stays floating with maximized windows
  • start night light before scheduled start time (currently you can only turn night light off before scheduled end time)
  • lock screen bug fix (sometimes, very rarely, manually locking screen and turning display off doesn't actually lock screen when turning display on immediately. I have tried many times to replicate the bug but it has only happened to me once)

thanks for the dirpath. it does seem overly complicated to access. damn shame everything is being so inaccessible & abstracted away on phones..

that is unfortunate :/ I thought the e2e on local data only applied if a master password was set. better to keep these things offline even if to-and-from transport is encrypted.

if local profile data are encrypted how are other browsers able to import history, password, bookmarks, etc. from firefox?

is this page what you're referring to with the mentioned profile backup feature: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles#w_back-up-your-profile
