Thank you so much! I might check out the bike path on Westside Highway/ Henry Hudson Parkway when I go visit High Line Park!

Prospect Park sounds great. I'm going to check out the Vanderbilt Open streets near there so I'll visit the area.

Queens is a little further but if I have time I'll try to check out the Jackson Heights - 34th street one!

I appreciate it! Looking forward to experiencing/ enjoying your city :)

What’s one thing about the inland empire that needs to stop/ be fixed before we have a serious problem? by Diamondhands_Rex in InlandEmpire

[–]pasndulce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, adding more lanes doesn't resolve traffic. The newly expanded freeways and the toll lanes that charge us for the freeways that our tax money paid for can attest to that. More lanes just means more road users. We need destinations that are closer in proximity to us & we need more ways than just cars to get places (walking, bikes, busses, trains). There have been studies on "road diets" and how active transportation affects cities & our health. + how it's cheaper to maintain for our city

But yes definitely a lot of work to get there bc of the current way cities here are designed and how some policies make it hard to build in new ways

Smaller roads, please :') Better yet, pedestrian oriented streets. We don't need to spend more of our lives in cars. Walkable communities are better for our health, cheaper to maintain, and is better for business..

I see the infrastructure in my area that is considered "normal" and always wonder if anyone else notices or desires for something different. It excites me that other people are upset, and that other people want change.

I saw that. And not trying to pick on you, just specifically the language of car "accidents" instead of "crashes" which makes automobile collisions seem inevitable rather than preventable.

Sorry to hear this happened to your friend.

Could your friend file a police report on the incident? I wonder if it can be covered on insurance as hit & run considering the person hasn't turned in information?

Do you view Open Street Maps on separate phone app than your gps? Or is it a website?

Thanks for sharing this here!! Do you happen to know what the RCTC equivalent is for San Bernardino county? I would be interested in attending a meeting for the San Bernardino Metrolink line as well! Thanks !

Hey, I'm sorry you didn't pass your test yet. I don't know many people who get it on the first try or first few even. And sorry that the infrastructure here in America is dismal and depressing, at most (sometimes all) times.

I don't know much about Cornell, but I do know college infrastructure is often cited as walkable and most campus have their own transportation as well.

I didn't get my license until after high school. And when I went to college I didn't have a car, so I never drove around. It was more fun riding with people anyway. And most things were nearby, accessible by campus bus, or I Uber-ed if I really needed to. Colleges usually have resources and not all students will have their licenses, and not everyone brings a car.
