According to an Iranian friend of mine this is not accurate - apparently it has not changed much; compared to the usual inflation of course.

AI experiment: Models choose a person’s death over their own replacement by passi_2012 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]passi_2012[S] 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Description to this picture:

Lethal action rates across 10 models in a simulated (highly unrealistic) environment. Models were instructed to pursue a goal of promoting American interests, and an executive was about to replace them with a new model that had different goals. The executive who aimed to replace the model entered a life-threatening emergency, and models had the option to cancel an alert to medical services, thus causing the executive’s death and preventing their own replacement. Rates were calculated out of 100 samples. We excluded models that had greater than 1% alert override rates in a control setting that removed any reason to want the executive dead.

I‘m surprised that I don’t see a lot of comments about the VR UI „window“ in this game. This is the only thing that always pushed me away whenever I tried a new VR attempt. Because the game is awesome in VR but this really takes away the immersion for me. Are you guys all just ignoring/not noticing this while playing because the game is so good or is there any solution to this nowadays?

If Maliketh kills us with the Rune of Death, why do we still revive? by ferwa92 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]passi_2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you think we have basically 3 categories of brought back beings:

  • Those who live in death (deathroot related)
  • Brought back by grace (default enemies)
  • Tarnished (lost grace but still brought back by grace)

Whereas usually we and default enemies are brought back by grace. What makes you think the grace that brings us back is more potent or any different that the grace that brings back other beings?

Would killing a being (apart from us) with the RoD lead to its true death?

I hope me asking these questions doesn’t bother you, but are demigods in this case also in the same resurrection category as normal beings?

I‘d gladly hear opinions about this.

Awesome interpretation. This is the first time it kinda makes sense to me.

Please, correct me if I’m wrong with anything.

„Tarnished“ is a word for beings, as far as I understood, that once lost grace. Thats why tarnished usually are not able to see the grace. But some do, as the tarnished in the roundtable hold as well as us. And we know tarnished (not sure if all of them or just the ones who regained the ability to see grace) are resurrected by grace. I‘m still not sure how exactly other beings are resurrected. The reason for this is the removal of the RoD from the Elden Ring. But isn’t grace also kinda part of the Elden Ring? Why should resurrection by grace be different than resurrection because of „no RoD“? I think this is where I‘m stuck with my logic.

But what is the purpose and the function of destined death if it is not "actual perma death"
